Songhurst Guitars, based in Spokane, Washington, is a small workshop founded by luthier Danny Songhurst. The company operates under two interconnected identities: Songhurst Guitars for its handmade instruments, and The Rock Slide for its line of guitar slides. The Rock Slide was invented in 1999 by Danny's uncle Mark Morse, who grew frustrated with conventional slides while playing the club circuit in the late 1970s. He designed a slide with a tapered interior, knuckle cutaway, and finger rest, then partnered with a Spokane metal manufacturer to produce it using CNC machining. Danny took over the business in 2011 and expanded it to include guitar building.

Songhurst guitars were hand-carved and chiseled using traditional methods until 2012, when the shop began supplementing handmade production with its own CNC machine to replicate the original designs. The guitar line includes the J.E.T. Doubletone semi-hollowbody electric and a mahogany-and-maple lap steel fitted with hand-wound Amalfitano P-90 pickups, Grover Rotomatics, and a modified Tone Pros wraparound bridge. The Rock Slide is available in polished brass, aged brass, nickel, moulded glass (hand-shaped by lampworkers in the USA), and ceramic, with signature models for players like Joey Landreth, Ariel Posen, and Rhett Shull.

The Rock Slide has been adopted by a wide range of professional guitarists, including Dave Keuning of The Killers (who also plays Songhurst guitars), Chris Shiflett of Foo Fighters, Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge, Bruce Watson of Foreigner, Barry Stock of Three Days Grace, Bryan Bassett of Foghat, and Pete Anderson. Songhurst has also built custom instruments for Paul Allen.
