Sontec is an American audio equipment manufacturer best known for its parametric mastering equalizers, which have become a standard reference in high-end mastering facilities since the 1970s. The company is run by engineer Burgess Macneal, who together with George Massenburg developed what is widely credited as the first fully parametric equalizer, introduced in 1972. After the original ITI brand dissolved, Macneal acquired its engineering, drawings, and chassis work and continued building equalizers under the Sontec name, with production established by the mid-1970s and operations later based in Virginia.

The flagship product line is the MES-432 series of three-band parametric mastering EQs (including the MES-432C and MES-432C/9 variants), built around the company's HS2030 and HS6000 discrete op-amps. Other Sontec hardware includes the MES-430 and MES-431 mastering equalizers and the MEP-250 series two-channel parametric EQs. A software emulation of the MES-432, the MES-432D9D, has been developed in collaboration with Metric Halo and Make Believe Studios.

Sontec equalizers have a long-standing reputation among mastering engineers and have been installed at facilities such as Sterling Sound, Masterdisk, Abbey Road Studios, and Capitol Records. The units are typically built in small numbers and are prized on the secondhand market, and the brand remains closely tied to Macneal's own continuing engineering work rather than to a large manufacturing operation.
