Strauss is an Australian amplifier brand founded in Melbourne in 1962 by Gary Nessel and John Woodhead. The original company built guitar, bass, and PA amplifiers from its South Yarra and Princes Bridge workshops, with models including the Warrior, Lancer, Polka 200, Bandit bass amp, and the smaller Mouse integrated combo. In 1969 the parent company was renamed Nova Sound Pty Ltd while the amps kept Strauss branding, and production ended in 1973. Strauss amps of that era were associated with loud Australian rock acts such as Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs, Lobby Loyde, Spectrum, and Mackenzie Theory.

The Strauss name was later revived under new management and sells a line of affordable solid-state practice and stage amplifiers branded as the Strauss Legacy series. The Legacy range covers guitar, bass, and acoustic combos in roughly 15 to 50 watt sizes, with some models incorporating real spring reverb rather than digital emulation.
