The company was founded in 1987 by Paul Thieman, a Wisconsin dairy farmer who built the first prototype in his farm shop after being unable to find a hanger that kept his guitar safely accessible. Production began in his home with help from family and a machinist friend, and the operation later moved into a dedicated facility in Ontario, Wisconsin, where products are still made.
