Synthescience (also stylized Synthscience) is an independent software developer of Windows VST plugins, focused on free synthesizers and effect processors with a vintage-leaning sonic character. The catalog centers on two synthesizer instruments — Poly 2106, a polyphonic virtual analog widely cited as a Juno-style emulation built around a knob-heavy, hands-on interface, and Prodigious, a mono/poly synth with two oscillators, an FM-capable third modulator, a 24 dB self-oscillating low-pass filter, dedicated envelopes, an arpeggiator, chorus modes and a built-in delay.

Beyond the instruments, Synthescience has released a suite of free effect plugins covering modulation (Symphonic Ensemble, Chorus Box, Autospread Box), distortion (Drivefactor), reverb (Freezechamber, notable for its freeze/hold function), lo-fi (R-Sample Factor) and a range of EQ, filter, compressor and delay utilities. Poly 2106 was a Runner Up in the KVR Developer Challenge 2012, and the developer's plugins are distributed through Plugin Boutique, KVR Audio and the official Synthescience site.
