Synton was a Dutch manufacturer and distributor of electronic music equipment, founded by Felix Visser in 1973 after he acquired an EMS Synthi AKS and set out to build instruments with more of the functionality he wanted from an analog synth. From its base in the Netherlands, the company also served as one of the principal European importers of gear from E-Mu, Ensoniq, and Fairlight.

Synton's in-house designs included the Syntovox line of vocoders and the System 2000 and System 3000 modular synthesizers, the latter of which was purchased by Karlheinz Stockhausen and distributed in the United States by Bob Moog's Big Briar. In 1983, Visser, product specialist Marc Paping, and designer Bert Vermeulen developed the Synton Syrinx, a monophonic analog synthesizer with an all-metal chassis, a metal touchplate controller, a bender pad, and a triple filter section that included a formant filter. The Syrinx had a small production run of only a few hundred units across 1983 and 1984.

In 1997, Paping and Vermeulen reunited under the Synton name to build the Fénix, a hand-built analog modular synthesizer offering 31 different module types. After an initial run of 25 units distributed to close associates, demand prompted the team to produce 50 more, bringing the total to 75 instruments before production ended in 2000. Synton's rare instruments remain prized on the vintage synthesizer market.
