Tangible Waves is a German company founded by Robert Langer, based in Seehausen am Staffelsee, Bavaria. The company is best known for creating the AE Modular system, a compact and affordable modular synthesizer format that launched as a Kickstarter project before growing into a full commercial line. AE Modular uses 3.5mm patch cables and a proprietary smaller format, with the goal of making hands-on hardware synthesis accessible to beginners, educators, and experimenters without the cost barrier of Eurorack.

The AE Modular ecosystem spans well over a hundred modules, including oscillators, filters, sequencers, effects, and utilities, alongside complete starter racks, the VMIX-10 mixer, the VCASE-7 portable rack, and DIY kits. Notable releases include the WAVETABLES module and the WAEVE82 module. Tangible Waves also supports an active user community through the AE Modular forum and wiki, and backs the Aether Waves album series on Bandcamp, whose proceeds are donated to Musicians Without Borders.
