TreeWorks Chimes is a percussion manufacturer based in Nashville, Tennessee, founded in 1996 by Mitch McMichen. The company began in McMichen's garage, where he hand-built his first set of chimes with a hacksaw and hand drill out of frustration with the quality of available bar chimes. Every instrument is still handmade in Nashville.
The company is best known for its single-row and double-row bar chimes, including the Classic, Sound FX, Cluster, Echo Tree, and Chorus Tuning lines, alongside triangles (such as the HS08 and HS10), top-bar chimes, and small percussion accessories. Bars are made from an aluminum/titanium alloy that is T-6 tempered, and the wood mantles are cut from 60- to 80-year-old Black Walnut sourced from Tennessee's Highland Rim region. Chimes are tuned by ear, bar by bar, to produce a non-clustered, gradual change in pitch.
TreeWorks instruments are widely used by studio and touring drummers, in Broadway pit orchestras, by DCI drum corps, and in worship, recording, and sound-healing settings. The brand operates under the tagline "Listen. It matters." and distributes globally through dealers including Schlagwerk in Europe.
