Utility Design Inc. is a family-run company based in Thousand Oaks, California, co-founded by Amy Hayashi-Jones. Established in 2019, the company focuses on music practice technology rather than traditional instruments or effects. Their flagship product, the Vidami, is a patented five-button USB foot controller that lets musicians control online video playback — looping, rewinding, adjusting speed, and pausing — without taking their hands off their instrument. The idea grew out of the founders' own frustration with the stop-and-start nature of learning guitar from YouTube tutorials.

The original version of the product, called the Rep, earned endorsements from prominent YouTube guitar instructors including Marty Schwartz, Tim Pierce, and Steve Stine. The company later introduced the Vidami Blue, a wireless Bluetooth version that also adds DAW control for hands-free recording in software like Pro Tools, Ableton, Cubase, and Studio One, as well as a page-turning mode for digital sheet music sites. The Vidami works via a Chrome or Safari browser extension and supports over 80 online video platforms including YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn Learning, and Truefire.
