Entry-level Martin Goodness

At the time I bought it, the DCX1E was almost certainly the least expensive Martin you could buy. It's still a Martin though, and the craftsmanship is flawless. My only complaint is that the guitar is a touch brighter sounding than I'd like, and the Fishman pickup exacerbates things. Still, it was the best sounding instrument in its price range on the day I picked it up.

Nice! Mind sharing what you paid for it? Why did you go Martin instead of Taylor, given that you got a bright sounding guitar?

It's been seven or eight years ago now, but I want to say it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $500. I don't recall seeing any Taylors at the shop that day, they had lots of Fender and Yamaha stuff and some Gibsons that were decidedly out of my price range.

If you didn't want bright, you shouldn't have gone Martin… let the strings go a bit...

Great player, tone for days.

This is Eastwood's replica of the fabled Ovation Ultra GP, their shortlived solidbody guitar that goes for $3000+ on eBay. It's a fantastic guitar to play, well balanced and very comfortable. It's got a Les Paul sound, but snarlier. Currently my favorite guitar.

Hey man I’m thinking of getting it as my first electric guitar, how would you describe it? Versatile enough for someone who not only wants to play heavy rock, but also brighter tones?

Incredible value guitar

This guitar is DeArmond (Fender)'s copy of the Guild Polara S-100. Manufactured in the late 1990's and one of their less expensive guitars, yet I find myself picking it up before other guitars that cost four to five times as much. My only complaint about the guitar is that it's top heavy and neck-dives. Still, I've never come across another $200 guitar I've liked so much.

Workhorse

Great pedal in a bulletproof case. Does everything from warm overdrive to a throaty distorted roar. Billy F. Gibbons used several of these during the recording of ZZ Top's Rhythmeen album & tour.
