EH 12AX7
Very well build tube. Not a high gain tube like the JJ 83s. nice clean tones, nice highs, midds and bass. Use in tube buffer effects loops, clean channel tube socket. Bogner 101b, Marshall, Fender and D style amps,

all 12AX7s and ECC83s have a gain in voltage of 100, any less and they are 5751s
JJ 803s 12AX7
Very high gain tube. round highs, meaty midds, meaty bottom end. Use in Bogner 101b, high gain amps, D Style amps. Excellent for Heavy Metal, Rock, Fusion, Blues.
JJ 803s 12AX7
Very warm tube. Use in Bogner 101b and Marshall amps. very vintage sounding, less gain then JJ 83s or Tung-Sol 12AX7 Gold pin. Takes pedals excellent.
JJ 81 12AT7
Very well built tube, lower gain then a 12AX7. Use in PI socket & reverb socket in D style amp, Fenders. very musical, low highs, nice midds, low bottom end. Excellent Jazz tube also.
Tung-Sol 12AX7 Gold Pin
Use in Bogner 101b, D style amps, fenders. Very high gain tube, very round sound and glassy highs.

Sound good, do they? The force is strong with the Russian tung sol branded tubes, but failure rate out of box? High it is, mmmmm. Well tested these must be. In bulk Yoda recommends you buy. Money you save, yourself you will test them and sort by microphonics and tone you must. Sharpies you can use to mark them. With number Yoda would grade. For best tube 1 to use in V1 slot, for worst tubes 2 for V2 or 3 spot. P you will mark mediocre tubes, standing for phase inverter P does.

in a high gain amp its lack of internal headroom might be muddy in the PI. I don't tend to use them as the PI these days either, but I really liked them in that slot when I had marshall superleads... helped round the tone out, especially on the metal-face... I think right now I have one of these as V1 in my HC30 with GE gray plates in the V2 and PI slot and a Mullard mesh plate ef86 in the pentode channel, though the V2 tube powering the top boost could also be a JJ 803, Phillips JAN 7025 or a 70s Tesla 83. I forget what sounded best last time I fucked with that amp. My ac4 has one of these in V2, but V1 wound up sounding best with a military grade Mullard ECC81. I think I still have the last of my stash of old amperex bugle boys in every slot of the 62 ac30 and I have yet to bother opening up the a30hw2x because it sounds damned good with whatever came in it. I will say that I REALLY like these tung sol "RI" tubes in the PI of a blackface fender with 6L6es to add a little grunt over the stock 12AT7 phase inverter. For thick 60s fender grind putting one of these in V1 and PI of a blackface head and leaving V2 empty really works. The british and European old stock ecc83s can sound a little tizzy in this application, but old American tubes like the RCAs and GEs are just not harmonically rich enough when you start overloading a blackface. Some will argue, but that's my experience. American tubes really seem to excel in tweed fenders and their cousins like early gibsons, supros, harmonies, and of course Voxes where there is little to no negative feedback. But in general I am a pretty big fan of this new sensor "tung sol" tube, I just wish they were a little more robust. They have such a high failure rate, even once tested, and they don't have the lifespan of an older dual triode. But they sound good in almost every application and distort easily and smoothly.

Very well built tube. Use in my VVT X-40, Fenders and D style amps. Very musical, glassy high, tight midds, tight bottom end.
NOS SED Winged "C" EL34
Very will built tube, use in my Bogner 101b. Very round sounding, nice high end chime. tight midds, big bottom end. takes high plate voltage excellent.
Mullard RI EL34
Use this tube in my Bogner 101b and Marshall type amps. very musical tube, nice top end, midds and bottom end. Holds high plate voltages excellent.
TC Electronic Nova Delay.
I find it to suck my tone, have to adjust the input volume when using in effects loop. over all good pedal for grab and go.

everyone says the Nova system and individual effects have a shitty buffer...
Eventide Space Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal
Most versatile reverb pedal on the market. Can go from soft reverb to huge delay reverb effects. can blend chorus with reverb, delay with reverb, has tap tempo to get the effects in time with a song or songs. Can program effects output to each preset which is a huge plus. Has Kill Dry so can use with a mixer 100% wet. I have even got some cool PCM 60, 70 & 80 sounds out of this pedal. Has expression jack to blend effects. It does take some time to program and tweak, but worth the time.
La Bella 2001 Extra Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings
Very warm tones, Huge sustain on bass strings, very well balanced, very dynamic. Excellent for live and recording.
John Pearse #650 Phosphor Bronze Bluegrass
Very Bright with mellow overtones. Cuts through the mix when recording and live.
Xotic Effects RC-Booster Scott Henderson
I got to hear this pedal at the Nashville Gear Expo. This pedal is very transparent and musical. The RC Boost side give a clean boost chime when amp is clean and pushes the amp just enough to break up. The Gain side is can go from sweet overdrive tones to very over the top Overdrive. I use the trim gain pot so it boost and blends with my amp overdrive. Gives huge tones without coloring the amp tones. By far the best Booster I own,
Boss BD-2 Bules Driver. Robert Keeley Phat Mod.
I wanted a pedal that could get singing blues to Hendrix vibe. I liked the BD-2 blues side, however was missing output and wanted more beef. I contacted Robert Keeley and he recommended his Phat Mod and other tweaks. The pedal now has more output, gain that can go from blues to Hendrix vibe and has huge in tones.
Fulltone PlimSoul
I was looking for a Jeff beck vibe in a pedal. The PlimSoul nailed it. Is touch sensitive, When using Single Coils or Humbucker pickups, Cleans up with the guitar's volume control. The Stage 2 to my ears is more like a blend for amount of gain with stage one.
Hermida Audio Zendrive Overdrive.
My good friend Alf Hermida invited me to his house and let me try out his custom line of pedals. I was looking for a Robben Ford, Larry Carlton vibe in a pedal and this does it awesome. For me I find this pedal works best with Humbucker Pickups. Alf built me one while I was at his home. Customer Service is A+.
Ashly LX300B Line Mixer
I Use this Line mixer for my rack gear. The Eventide Eclipse I found sound better when using a line mixer at 100% wet. I went for the Ashly because it is quite, has high headroom, and had true bypass switches. The true bypass switches for me is a life saver when doing session, I can switch effects in and out on the fly without any switching system.
Lexicon Reflex
Used this unit since the late 80's. Nice verbs for guitar and has a PCM 80 chip. Can hear Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie's CD or video.

is the reflex the same DSP chip as the PCM80? did not know that... I've had one of these and an Alex, both great units of their era.
