There are good headphones, great headphones... and $55,000 headphones :-|

To me; headphones shouldn't be costing more than you can afford. The basic to those things is; just hear what the crowd can't, and make sure the sound that you're mixing in is the equivalent of the sound people eventually hear. Therefore it's not necessary to have great headphones. Mine will do; HDJ-500 Black. Now to be honest about those headphones; I first had the white one. But it turned out that that wasn't such a good idea. Mainly because the white on the ear pads started to come off (which made it look very ugly) (yeah I'm aware that you can buy a new set of ear pads, but those are quite as expensive as a new set of headphones in this price range is.) I also have to confess that when DJ'ing, I'm not the kind of guy that is constantly worrying about the hardware. So, when I'm using my stuff, I'm reaallyyy using it. And that made the shackle between the two earpieces crack, because it's plastic. Now, with the new one, I don't have this problem (yet). But, because it's plastic, it's also lighter. Just buy yourself cheap ones all the time if you're using it frequently. Or a good pair for not more than 400,-. Would be my advice.
