This is the EvilTone PI, a modern recreation of a classic fuzz from the 70's. The PI is modeled after the classic EH Big Muff Violet Ram's Head, Version 2. While this may be a recreation of an old circuit, the components and build quality are modern, resulting in an amazing sounding and reliable version of an old classic.

The EvilTone PI is made right here in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, and each pedal is individually biased and checked before being packaged.

The EvilTone PI can run on either a 9V center-negative power supply (like a 1-Spot), or on a 9V battery. In fact, the power draw is so low that a battery will last for months!

EvilTone backs up every pedal we sell with a limited 5 year warranty to the original purchaser. If your pedal fails due to manufacturer defect, or just wears out, we'll fix it for you (minus shipping costs)! This does not cover using an inappropriate power supply or abuse, but we build these things tough, with abuse in mind.

Based on the Electro-Harmonix Pulsar, this tremolo has two speed and one intensity knob for superior wobble control. Super quiet, and known as a pedal "designed for sick and twisted musicians" by Guitar World Magazine.

Operating Instructions

The controls function as follows. The Volume controls the lever output; Tone is a combination treble/bass adjustment; Fuzz allows the user to select the intensity of fuzz, with the counter-clockwise position being the maximum fuzz. The fuzz will not alter the output from minimum to maximum. The Gain also controls the output level of the pedal and can be used to increase the intensity and attack of the tone itself. When in the minimum setting (clock-wise), the clarity and character of the guitar tone will be most noticeable (a Strat will still sound like a Strat). When in the maximum gain position (counter-clockwise), the sound will most closely approximate the original Sofa Tonebender. The gain can be used to dial in the user's personal preference.

Although the Yardbox works best in smaller amps, with the addition of the gain control, it can be matched up to today's larger, louder amps. The pedal also works well when used at lower guitar volume settings, allowing the user to control the tone from the guitar to achieve dynamics without that woofy-compressed sound. A truly versatile fuzzbox that awaits the user's imagination.
