Seeing as I am really into thin, fast playing guitar necks, an Ibanez RG had to find it's way into the collection sooner or later. Although mine came equipped with Dimarzio PU's (can't think of the model, for which I am sorry), it's safe to say that this RG Prestige is an absolute beast when it comes to playability and manufacturing. I do have some problems readjusting the action after changing the strings now and again, but that ultimately comes down to me being a total newbie with floyd-rose trems. Not the guitar's fault, but mine.

I was extremely happy to hear about Ibanez (then) new series of affordable "metal" guitars and immediately fell in love with the simply kept, yet beautiful design of the Iron Label Series. So I went ahead and got my hands on the 8-String version, since I already owned a 7-string. The neck profile is very slim, as one would imagine it to be coming from Ibanez, but the guitar still manages to stay in tune very well. I am very impressed by the companies ability to strip the size of the neck down to it's possible minimum, while not compromising in tonal and tuning stability. Although I really liked the guitar, the EMG's it came with didn't do the trick for me. Imho they sounded too 'muddy' for the style/tone I was hoping to achieve and after thinking about changing the PU's for quite some time, I ultimately changed it in for an Iron Label 7-string version of the same guitar, because the 7-sting EMG's sounded surprisingly better and I figured that I could just down tune it. Again, I might be cheating a bit by not actually owning the guitar anymore at this point, but at least I got it's little 7-string brother. Which is nice.

What can I say about the Epiphone SG that hasn't been said/written before in countless reviews by much more experienced musicians than me? The SG is a Rock classic and still surprises me on a regular basis for it's clarity and overall tonal variety.

Although I have played the 65' Mustang before, and found it to be a great instrument, I actually don't own it. Instead I own a 1975 Mustang in sunburst finish, which in my opinion, is very much alike the 65' reissue not only concerning the finish, but also in terms of the slightly thicker neck profile and overall sound.

Although I prefer longer scale guitars, the Fender KC signature is, apart from great sounding and well manufactured, very easy and comfortable to play.

The Fender 70'sJazz Bass comes with great sounding, passive pickups. It features a nicely adjustable bridge as well as solid Fender tuners, which hold whatever tunings quite well after a few minor adjustments. The C-shape neck profile, although it might seem too thick for players who are used to more 'modern' neck profiles, allows for a great playability and is very easy to get used to (imho) and is especially very comfortable to play live. Not to mention the brilliant perloid block inlays and white bindings. If by now you seem convinced of the 70's JB, I hope you'll have as much fun playing the instrument as I have. Cheers, Fenriz
