Best studio desk/workstation

weird EB thing... when replying to a deleted post, you get a 404 and cannot even copy or cut your response to repost it. I took a screen shot, but cannot post pics on here too fluently. Pretty sure my angle was more at the lower end of scale generic responses... doubt i pioneered too many groundbreaking concepts.

I have opted to custom build my own studio furniture. This way it meets my exact needs. While only portable at the moment, my "Porta-Studio" (name will change if I ever mass produce.. sorry tascam!) has space for a synth or hot swapped midi controller keyboard, or a wireless qwerty and mouse my old drum machine and interface, a small micro shelf behind these for my rack piece of kit, then another shelf for laptop and second computer screen and space on either side for speakers.... all wired into space under the shelf so that the whole unit presents one power cable.

Forgive the clumsy language in this... but saying shelf for keyboard, keyboard and keyboard and shelf for monitors and monitor and additional monitor sounds kinda dumb. Thanks English! Best.Language.Ever.

Haha! While designing my desk this shit came up contantly.

The wife is an engineer and was sweet enough to do a to 3D scale model of everything from the layout of the remodel to a painstakingly designed and mock up of my studio desk- like down to the exact dimentions of my mouse. All the while constantly qualifying what "keyboard" or "monitor".

That would have been handy for me! Forgive my talking metric, just taking the time to convert to Imperial currently seems like too much effort…

I built my portable unit ready to slide into a cabinet when I eventually build it. Unit is made of 120cm wide shelves, for 120cm wide cupboard. PROBLEM: Shelves actually measure 121cm wide. Today is pull apart, cut diwn to size and rebuild day also raising shelf height to be able to reach keyboard program buttons without having to pull whole keyboard out each time.

If you want a hand in the future shoot me a note. She's the pro in Solidworks, I can get by tho. If one of has the time (usually not, but still worth asking) we'd be happy to help if we can.

What i think you might like even more is just to just grab a cheap/free copy of Solidworks & I bet you'll find it super intuitive and extremely useful. Crazy helpful for planning out any build.

Once you've got the dimensions entered you can just drag and drop, swap things around here, and there and tweak it until it's perfect really quickly so by the time you actually break out the tools you know exactly what you wanna do.

oh yeah-if you know anyone who is a student you can get an even cheaper price on Solidworks. I have heard "some people" even do that with plugins as well.

Even being a student does not clear me the funds.... Looks cool.... will keep an ear to the ground for free ones. Thanks!

Weellll, just like everyone else here says, building a custom desk is totally ideal. I think due to working in the box so often (nearly zero analog gear), I always imagined a flat natural-wooded desk would be perfectly fine and beautiful.

Here's my studio as it is right now - flat $20 IKEA desks:

After seeing PLATFORM, I've decided that flat just won't work - love the lil cubbies you guys included. So sensible.

I think I'd get PLATFORM if I didn't want my dream desk to be like 12 feet across and fill an entire side of my room so multiple people can work at once (or to have a dedicated paperwork/sheet music side)!

So, holy grail? Custom built, natural-feeling dark brown wood, 12 feet long, and a lot of clean space. I'll take the minimal rack-mountable cubbies too.

Current set up... https://scontent-syd2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/19598705_10154512727702007_5562732527910501748_n.jpg?oh=d6d67672f958390b418cebae1f240513&oe=59C51682

It isn't the best... but it works until the real build is done.

Whoaa - what's the table made from? Keyboard stand and...?

It's a prototype... just shelving from a hardware... Melamine or vinyl coated mdf. I wanted something portable... The final build needed to be to these dimensions.. I have built this to see if it is workable and practical.

Everyone knows before buying a brand new instrument.which brand is the best for everyone or beginners. you have to know about best violin brands reviews, best guitar brands reviews. best piano brands reviews. Thanks

What is this???? These posts are becoming beyond annoying on this site. Contributions must be just that... CONTRIBUTIONS.

These generic dribbling attempts at practicing English are better served somewhere, anywhere else.

Please bounce your ball against somebody else's wall or make an effort to make a point. The obvious has been stated. Move along.

Can MODS or higher filter the rubbish? It is reaching plague levels.
