Sounds cool! I don't love the snare, sounds flat, maybe too quiet. If you have a transient shaper you could fatten it up, like a Addictive Drums DS-10 or similar. I feel like the Synths could be panned differently. Infected Mushroom Wider is a sweet panner for synths and its a free plugin.

Really cool vibe, I dig it!

Has some really cool filter-y synth sounds. Your using the behringer Neutron for alot of these sounds? ive had my eyes peeled on these semi modular synth units like mother 32/DFAM etc... and obviously im not a millionaire so the Neutron and the Model D price tags there have my eye. Been waiting to try one in person. I'm always looking for outside the box ways to make music and tap into new inspiration. You feeling the Neutron behringer build quality jim?

Dig

  • oh shit! Jim gotta semi modular

yeah infected mushroom has cool plug ins. we went down to see them in NYC earlier last year. im not big into plug ins but my friends are and they are pretty trippy to say the least. The Infected Mushroom plug ins we were messing with were the opposite of subtle. Wild sound manipulation with those plug ins. When i 1st saw them in syracuse about 10 years ago i thought it was a DJ show and they came out that night and BAMMMM it was like system of a down heavy guitars. I was not expecting it. I thought it was going to be like ambient mellow glowstick party. They came out and blasted us HEAVY. Im not into EDM but bands like that i can dig. And yeah the plug ins are cool. if your into that sort of thing. interesting way to manipulate sounds in an Extreme way.

I got 2 ;-) got a pittsburgh modular microvolt recently but haven't spent much time with it.... the time I did spend learning it was fun as hell, so weird, the internal arpeggiator/sequencer makes it a really fun toy. You don't need much of a patch going to get started with it, just play a chord on a keyboard with hold engaged and then start exploring. Its kinda like the 0 coast, but for some reason it appealed to me more.

there's some neutron that replaced a softsynth that was a place holder. The neutron really needs extra gear to interface with to fulfill its full potential. Analog sequencer's a must for doing anything really interesting.

Think they'd do something like Overbridge ala Elecktron- they build all that crazy shit into their 106 "clone" so clearly they're thinkin bout that kinda implememtation

good to know

yeab ive been looking into the right sequencer for the $. ive been told the Korg one is the best.

the korg is HIGHLY limited, great tool for certain things... but if I could only have one hardware sequencer? not the sq1. The novation circuit line is my current favorite for live performance. I love the monostation. The synth engine is a stripped down bass station and the triple mono-sequencer is fantastic and easy to use on the fly. The regular circuit is great too, thinking of getting one to add to my live rig. Bang for buck.

cool ill have to check those out on youtube and around see what sounds catch my ear. Thanks for the word jim! I hate to spend my only $ on something and then say "man this is limited!." Yeah live on the fly and in the home studio is sounding more like gear im interested in. thanks for the good word.

the live rig keeps growing....

Jimmarchi1, I thought your composition and idea was great. I like keeping things simple, doing so takes away confliction and negativity. I steer away from being techinical or getting technical but definitely doesn't mean that I don't understand the technicalities of what's going on. My only take and opinion and it's just an opinion because I'm really really really new here. I like bass, I love it!! The vibrations soothe my soul, connect me to the Universe. Music is definitely a form a magic. I would like to hear some 808 bass lines applied to your composition. I'm actually hearing a distorted 808 pitching up and down. I've been playing around with, "Substance" and it is quite powerful. Back to an earlier remark, my opinion is just that. I'm not here to conflict, start shit, argue, criticize or negative things of that nature. Mellow and humble are traits of mine, respect, and definitely not supercilious. My personality can be tempetuous only when I'm aggrivated. Shit!! I be a blabber mouth, I usually don't talk that much. Have a good one...

I think everyone missed the point of trying to make a really 80s, early eurhythmics type bedroom production with mediocre soudns doing neat stuff? I tend to create all my sounds ground up, in this case I think I sued my old dr55 for drums and I pumped up the kick (essentially an 808 kick) but purposely didn't shape the snare sound, leaving that pitiful burst of noise a la sweet dreams. I can do other thigns like this:

punchy and more modern with just a little 80s

or this older one

and newbies to equipboard will be unfamiliar with any of the work I did when writing the EB review of the novation peak:

and the thing I'm proudest of in my electronic meanderings:

and then at one point I made this:

keep in mind I'm almost 40, my reference for music is different then everyone but xaqary!

and I can't spell opinions when I'm drinking

I have weird feelings towards behringer... the synths are legitimately well made and sound great but I feel kinda dirty buying the clones (the arp has me especially freaked since korg and one of the arp guys alread reissued the odyssey at a reasonable price point! and so does the ms20 clone) but I've been eyeballing the sh101 and pro1 that's coming out because you can't find those little monos so easily.... the neutron is a legit original design with curtis parts and all sorts of odds and sods. If it had 1 more oscillaotor it would be like if sequential circuits had made their own arp 2600. Its infinitely useful, though its not my favorite synth ever by any stretch. It definitely creeps its way into a lot of stuff because its such a chameleon

these are awesome! really cool sounds. great accents and some nice guitar here too at the end of 7 years lucky! wasnt expecting that nor the crazy insane ending after the cool trem riff.

on your side starts off as if im going to shut it off ....but then something happens and i just keep listening and then i dont stop until the end because at each turn it throws me a curveball. and i like curveballs. sounded like fuzz drums at the end.

industrial tinged banger reminds me alot of some of my favortite That 1 Guy songs off "songs in the key of Beotch" like "weasel pot pie". Alot of cool sounds and i like where the beat takes off. A little guitar comes in kind of backround just to kinda accent the groove. Then straight noise chaos ending. Which was interesting.
