oppinions on this hyper 80s song?

i liked the 1 st 2 minute groove of karenina alot.

I'm really proud of the soundscape on that one... its not as well written as a lot of what I do, I let the hardware sequecer and some arpeggiators dictate a lot of the musical elements, but tonally I had something in mind and got all the machines to do exactly what I wanted for once. I didn't have a big draft sequence with plugins or anything where I took piano and guitar ideas and mapped it all out, I just let thigns occur musically and focused on great patches. A lot of times I'll get like 75% of what I had in my head and then the rest is happy accidents as far as sound design. The song will sound cool, but the lack of premeditation kinda bothers me as a total control freak. That's one of the things that gets to me about trying to do this live performance stuff lately... not only do I not know what I want to play but I find myself patching haphazardly while playing and it can be frustrating. The results are allover the map ad its a lucky live stream where I have more than 4 bars where I like my performance as well as my soundscape in context of the rest of the band. It gives one a new respect for Brian Eno in Roxy. And working with all step sequencers is a bit of a pain to change up live, although using the computer live would be worse I guess....

punk rock !!!! i always love chicks rocking out. i dig alot of the good female fronted acts of old. 7 year bitch was one lf my underground favorites. i got thete cd from columbia house ? remember that? 11 cds for 1 cent then you have to buy one every month. Warpaint is my fav all female band around right now. Digging Gina Gleason shredding with baroness she is really good. Yeah man i dig the rock n roll. I dig the crazy synthy stuff too. Whats good is good you know. Good funk bands make me love funk. Good punk bands make me love punk. A tight hip hop band like The Roots will make me say i love hip hop. I always wanted to make a loud rock album like this when inwas younger bands i played with were never that organized. Partially my fault equally. We were not from a musical mecca. Good music can come from area there is really no excuse. Yeah i feel you jim i was doing live looping tours to visit my dad in florida when he was sick. You have to be dead on looping every single part. Thats a cool thing about what you do. You may not be in complete control of what you do but it all stays in sync.(hopefully) im always worried about computers or digital stuff geeking out. My computer cant handle all that. You must have like a sweet Mac book pro ? To play live like that? Seems line most dudes with plug ins and mid rigs are using racks and interfaces and computers along with the keys and stuff that your rig pics consist of. Im in computer limbo right now. I need a mac book pro i think. Also need a new car ! Decisions decisions. Was using windows movie maker to put up videos of pedal demos of sounds and live footage of our open jams local open mic musicians who really appreciate seeing a video of there performance. Now windows movie make is black screen for some wierd reason only showing the audio. I got the computer in like 2011or 2012. So i didnt expect it to last forever. Cant believe it lasted as long as it did really. Got the parental advisory on there looks like you had it in record stores. Thats cool.PUNK ROCK! Yeah man let me know what version mac book if thats whaf your using can handle all that plug ins and such. I know some PC s can but im weary of them. I use them as little as possible but they are such an important production tool these days i think i just have to get a good one. Also stuff like your synthy jams sound so fun to make. Musical experimentation in that realm looks and sounds like fun man.

you say you do live podcast/stream performances ? Hit me with a link ill check it. I watch That 1 guys podcast from inside his van on tour every monday or so. He is really funny with his midi mapping and visuals. He posts up in his van anywhere on tour that has good internet and podcasts live stream in this one part of his van he was all perfect for it.

not sure when we're streaming again... we did one last saturday that was pretty scrappy, but had good parts here and there. We might do a short one thursday if I can get out of work on time, then I'm tied up for a few weeks so if the rest of the guys jam I won't be involved. I just can't fit it in. 2 of the guys are movers so their schedule's erratic and weeknight oriented whereas I'm a dad and a healthcare professional so I'm better off with weekends. The weeknights are contingent on me leaving work on time and having a sitter for my son who ca handle him on a school night. As it gets colder the movers will be doing more Saturdays so out output will hopefully go up to 1 or more streams per week. But I don't have a lot of say. I'm not exactly a member of the band, I'm more of a guest musician for the project. I think I've done 4 streams so far since the summer as I build up my setup at party HQ (our modest studio)... there's been a lot of trial and error with my live setup and its still got ergonomic problems. It keeps sprawling out and its hard for me to really play keys and do things with the sequenced synths at the same time.... I was definitely struggling last week and I feel like I need to tear the whole setup down and rebuild it in a more logical way

"On your side" has a strong 80's melody to it. I likes!! It's badass!!! I hear more of a Depeche Mode sound to it which is cool because that's one of my favorite groups to come out of that era. I've gotta find some more time to listen to more of your compilations. Between competitive bowling, school (RPh), taking care of my three girls (my cats), and trying to design my own tracks. Shit!! There's just not enough time in a day. If we had Mecury's day which is 56hrs I believe, that'd be perfect. I'm a regular at being awake at odd hours. I haven't been able to put anything up on my board but I give myself credit for making an attempt to chat, it's not easy but music is the bridge that makes the connection. I'm not even that talkative when someone brings up the topic of bowling. Have a good one and keep up the great work!!
