Ability to Submit Gear with some other form of proof......

Just wondering if there are any other ways to add gear to artist's equipboards without video/photo. I've got a piece of gear Paul Dean used in the early days of Loverboy called the Loft 450G DelayLine Flanger that a fan of his e-mailed me about after speaking with him after a show (I run a Facebook page and specialty site on the early guitars the guy designed, that's why people e-mail me that stuff, and have quite a few youtube videos of me getting close to the unique Flanger sound he got, the contact wanted to know how I pulled that off). Considering what I know of other bands and what they use, this might be something I might run against here and there.

Would a forum post from someone who worked with said artist be enough?

GEAR:
  • Fender '62 Jaguar Reissue Electric Guitar
  • Hondo Paul Dean II
  • Fender Jaguar

site your own facebook if relevant or take a screen capture of the emails in question being careful to omit the sender's personal info... assuming the info is legit it'll get approved

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Ehh... I don't think e-mails between fans should be considered as a source. Same for fourms and such. I could make a threadthe way many of our members make a quick soundcloud and post false material to be used for sourcing like, "I talked to Boom once at a show and he said he used Gibson SG Custom basses."

That's the beauty of EB, we demand reputable proof. Video and audio interviews of the artists saying what they have is fine and written interview minutes CAN be acceptable if posted by a reputable enough source.

If this were a democracy, I would vote no to this; however, it is not. G and M are the only ones that can decide to change this.

I was assuming there were going to be some pictures embedded in the email or facebook to back thigns up. I have actually seen G and M do that. I mean, anyone cna send me an email claiming anything (and they regularly do) but it doesn't mean I can site it in a scholarly paper.

And I thought we were talking about guys who worked for these artists talking to MadMike? As long as we cna document so and so was Mr Badassguitarist's tech in 1990 then why not trust him?

I feel ya, I'm friendly w/ lots of bands on here from playing with/ recording/ booking over the years (sure I'm far from alone) but i kinda second the solid proof idea. Even tho it's frustrating knowing exactly what a friend, etc. uses & not being able to find proof.

While there will always be people familiar with artists in lots of ways I think it's useful to see practical sourced examples because of the much higher ratio of people who just make bogus submissions.

If you are friends with them, I would meet up with them with a video camera and do a rundown or ask them to make a video and email it. Seems like a pretty cool opportunity.

Not a bad idea, never thought of that. Just gotta catch 'em in town.
