Apogee Duet 2 - Alternatives?

I have seen a lot of budget audio interfaces. Most people say that the pre amps of the duet 2 are the best. I don't have the money to buy one...

Could anybody recommend a similar quality interface for a cheaper price?

To me, cheaper than a Duet 2 means less than $595.00. You have a LOT of options there :)

From this best audio interfaces guide:

preamps on the Mackie Onyx are apparently quite good, and quite underrated. Its preamps draw comparisons to ones found in interfaces several times what the Onyx costs.

GEAR:
  • Fender Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar
  • Big Ear Pedals Woodcutter
  • HeadRush FRFR Go Portable Desktop Amplifier

Thank you for the suggestion! I noticed the Onyx Blackjack (2x2) is priced around 100 bucks. This reminds of the Focusrite Scarlett Solo or 2i2. They also are priced around 100.

The equipboard "Best Audio Interface" sections says that the Blackjack is underrated (as you said). The Scarlett 2i2 is also on there. This may not be very reliable or un-biased.

In regards to the Scarlett and Mackie products, which would you reccommend?

What do you want to do with it? What kind of equipment is going into it and what do you need this to do?

If you are just needed a 1/4 jack and usb mixer, I'd suggest the Behringer Xenyx 1204USB.
