Changing an artist to a band/group

Hey, first time posting to forums.

Anyway, I saw that the group Brockhampton was listed as an individual artist, when it should be listed as a group of multiple people. Same thing goes for City and Colour, even though Dallas Green alone technically IS City and Colour.

I tried to change them to bands, but I didn't see an option for it.

Thanks.

Yeah, it's not super easy right now. Sorry about that. I think I fixed the ones you point out here, but let me know if you see anything else that needs to be corrected.

  • Fender '57 Custom Champ
  • Fender American Original '50s Telecaster

OK, thanks a lot! Cheers

Oh, one more thing. I added a Fender Telecaster (Duplicate) to this page http://equipboard.com/pros/romil-hemnani but I misread it and it's not his guitar afterall. Would you be able to remove it? Thanks

Done!

Excellent. I just noticed that someone entered the same guitar twice into Dallas Green's page with the exact same entry.

I think those are different guitar models, but I couldn't find anything referencing the artist using either on the source that was linked to, so I left a comment and hopefully the submitter will come back and update the source or clarify what I'm missing. If not, I'll delete the entries soon or mark them as incorrect until someone can find a better source.

Hi! I just found this thread, and I think it relates to a change I'd like to make. alpha to omega (https://equipboard.com/pros/alpha-to-omega) was previously listed as a solo artist on musicbrainz, but it has now been changed to a band (https://musicbrainz.org/artist/aa3a8cca-2c88-4c1c-8c6c-285d57eb7b6b).

Is it possible to change the profile from a solo artist to a band, or alternatively rename the existing profile to the member's name so that a new band page can be created?

On another note, is there a place where duplicate artists can be reported? I've found the page for reporting duplicate gear, but I haven't been able to find one for artists.

So far, I've noticed that Josh Dun from twenty one pilots appears to have a duplicate profile:

  • Primary profile: (https://equipboard.com/pros/josh-dun)
  • Duplicated without gear (https://equipboard.com/pros/joshua-william-dun)

Thank you in advance

Welcome to the forums :) There are plenty of duos on Equipboard that are listed as artists, as per the guidelines:

Add as an individual artist:

  • Guitarist, bassist, drummer, vocalist, etc.

  • Electronic duo/trio where members share gear (e.g., Disclosure, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk)

Add as a band:

  • Use this to group individual artists together

  • Example: Radiohead is the grouping of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien, etc.

Is your band structured more like the electronic duos mentioned above, or more like a traditional rock band?

Also, it's good for everyone reading to be familiar with the notability guidelines.

So far, I've noticed that Josh Dun from twenty one pilots appears to have a duplicate profile:

  • Primary profile: (https://equipboard.com/pros/josh-dun)
  • Duplicated without gear (https://equipboard.com/pros/joshua-william-dun)

It looks like that second joshua william dun profile may have already been purged... either that, or the link is wrong. Good catch, though. Thank you!

Hi!! Thank you!

Yeah, I read that in the guidelines, but is more of a traditional rock band than an electronic duo where the members share gear.

And yeah, it looks like the profile was purged... that was fast!!

By the way, after making my last submission to this forum, I realized that Mike Shinoda also seems to have a duplicate-profile situation. He has the main profile with all the contributions (https://equipboard.com/pros/mike-shinoda) and a separate profile for his side project, Fort Minor, with 0 gear listed (https://equipboard.com/pros/fort-minor). I'm not sure whether that counts as a duplicate or if having two separate profiles makes sense in this case.

Thanks so much!

Understood. Only the site founders/admins can change an artist from an individual to a group, or change Alpha to Omega to Alec Inogés Maestre. If they feel the band meets the notability guidelines I mentioned earlier, perhaps they will grant the change. I can't make any promises.

Nice catch re: the Mike Shinoda side project. Side projects/solo aliases are kind of a grey area on Equipboard right now. There's no clear guidance on it -- the admins tend to justa kinda let it play out and see if any problems arise.

I understand. I'll wait for the founders/admins to decide whether they want to make the change. Thank you very much.

I found another similar issue, but the other way around: a solo artist (https://musicbrainz.org/artist/c56f7a49-0e17-4fd8-a830-d334fe773434) who has been created as a band on Equipboard (https://equipboard.com/band/lola-indigo).

I assume this is also something that would need to be reviewed and handled by the founders/admins.
