Equipment I Once Had

Is there a way to see my past gear in my equipboard if I remove it from my equipment? Maybe an "Gear I Once Had" section, please?

Thus, we would know how our equipment has evolved.

Thank you!

You already posted in the Suggestions thread, so no need to make a whole new thread.

Unfortunately, no there isn't (at least that I've seen). What'd you forget?

You can make multiple boards and nam ethem whatever you wish. You could just make a second board and title it"Equipment I once had" and re-add those items to it.

dude, mine would scroll down forever... I am such an inveterate gear swapper

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

I just leave it on my mainboard the way we do with the artists. There's no telling if Paul McCartney still has his old Wal bass... but it's still on his board.

I take stuff off when I get rid of it and only review stuff I used to own prior to joining EB w/o adding it to my board mainly because of the clutter factor. My board is so loaded wth gear already. I have lost track of how much stuff I own, a round dozen guitars or more, probably a dozen keyboards and synthesizers, a half dozen amps.... that's a full equipboard already. My house looks like a music retailer, my bedroom is the guitar showroom and the rec room I share with the boy could be keyboards/studio equipment on my side of the room. Its toys r us on Lucian's side (with a few acoustic guitars hanging on the wall too). Oh, and the 'reading room' has a blonde vox ac30HW in it. I am really cautious about adding software too. I have virtually EVERYTHING on my desktop or laptop, but I only list the stuff I use all the time because its just outta control otherwise. And I usually only keep stuff I play/use a lot. I can't imagine what it would be like if I didn't have the rule of selling anything that hasn't been played in a year! That's the only good thing that came of being married besides my son (of course).

So anyone can list whatever they want, but for my part I look at my board and see a giant mess even with just the stuff I currently have.

Great idea! All that would be required is an optional start an end date for each piece of gear that you owned... The standard home page should only show the ones without an end date or with an end date in the future...

I like leaving everything on, even when I no longer have it (just as a artist) cus they were the tools that were used to create my music, and I think thats the whole point of equipboard, you come onto here to figure out what makes your favorite artist's sound. the once had is a nice idea but it just muddies things up, n with web dev less is usually more.

Could this 'flashback feature' be as simple as a small selectable cross near the 5 star ratings system that you check from your edit screen on your equipboard... marking not as deceased, but as gear "no longer with us"?

I don't see why anyone would want to get rid of gear they once had. We don't do that with artists.

"Take that Aria Pro II guitar off of Kirk Hammet's page. He hasn't used it since 84 when he lost it in the bus accident."

Sometimes gear decides it is time to go long before you are finished with it…

I meant on just on the board, not actually getting rid of gear in real life, but deleting it or not adding to your board out of not owning it anymore.

So where do we stand as a collectiv on listing gear you owned and had stolen? Not sold or traded because you chose to do without that. But removed from your possession.

i WOULD SAY IT STILL GOES ON YOUR BOARD, BUT THAT'S MY OPINION. Damn caps. If an artist or user used a Gibson Explorer for a record or song or whatsit, that item doesn't just not exist anymore. You can't un-record the album and replace the guitar with another one. Think about Dimebag, he is dead and technically his brother and wife own all wife guitars. We don't just erase them from his :)

(Smelling potential gear IQ points) So... does this WIFE have an Equipboard page???

on Boom logic I should add every guitar and amp I've ever put to tape, err hard drive too.... my board will be exploding with stuff as Iam an inveterate gear purchaser, reseller trader on a level that staggers most lay people

but Tel, go ahead and do yours up man

Yes indeed. I believe every Jim owned guitar should appear on Jim's page.

Nope. Gone for a reason. Be they lost, stolen, sold, traded or just plain and simple not mine anymore, it is because when they left, I had no need for them and my efforts (if any) to replace them were done in the evolution of what has come to be on my board today. So I tip my hat at the forgotten ones. Remembered but not immortalised.

whoa.... when you throw in amps, pedals, microphones, rack gear and synthesizers its going to get really messy.... if you wanted me to list all the software on my music PC? jeez.... I currently just list stuff I use all the time in software and stuff I currently own in instruments and gear, I have plugins on my harddrive all installed nd ready to go that I just haven't had cause to try out yet! The average stuff I generally use is workin' fine so there must be like 50 plugins pay and free that I haven't ever opened in a DAW

Do it Jim.

I will say this, I think our equipboards could use some sections, the way an artist's is. Have all the microphones in one section, all the guitars in another.

I also think maybe we could split the artists' pages into "Current rig" and "Previously used". A lot fo bands switch up gear everytime they make a new album. It would make sense from a fan standpoint to come to the site and be looking for a certain item or setup based on what they just heard on the new album. I think we discussed this before, like adding album coverart icons over the items used for that item... but I'm just too lazy to go and find it without the new and improved, patented forum searchbar :p
