I look forward to reading it

My tastes change over time. There was a time when I would have said Metallica, Megadeth, TOOL, Pantera, and Lamb of God. Now, I don't enjoy any of these that much. I can still throw 3 of each though.

Metallica

Fight Fire with Fire, Shortest Straw, Enter Sandman (It's the first non-church song I ever heard)

Megadeth

Five Magics, Washington is Next, Wake Up Dead

TOOL

Lateralus, Ticks and Leeches, Eulogy (I hate the message, but love everything else)

Pantera

Domination, Cemetary Gates, Cowboys from Hell

Lamb of God

Hourglass, One Gun, Now You've Got Something to Die For

This week, based on what I'm learning/playing is as follows.

Jackson 5, No Doubt, The Eagles, Stone Temple Pilots, Aerosmith.

I'm not a super fan of these bands either, but I am listening to them often to learn their biggest hits.

Smashing Pumpkins – • Tonight, tonight • Jelly belly • Bullet with butterfly wings There’s so many more though (I swear there wasn’t a weak song on MCATIS)

Mogwai -

• Travel is dangerous • How to be a werewolf • Heard about you last night Again the list could go on

Polyphia -

• Nightmare • Florence • The Aviator Again there was like two weak tracks on Renaissance

Pink Floyd -

• Comfortably numb • Echoes • Dogs They have a lot of great songs as well

Perpiphery -

• Scarlet • Alpha • Icarus lives

With Tool, Chon, Iron Maiden, dream theatre, between the buried, and me, born of Osiris, porcupine tree, rush, cream, the white stripes, Godspeed you black emperor, Russian circles, 65dos, drenge, wolf alice, the jimi Hendrix experience, soundgarden, and audioslave as the main honourable mentions.

This might come out weird

Currently?

Oasis (Live Forever, The Masterplan, Slide Away) Green Day (Waiting, Welcome To Paradise, Macy's Day Parade) Led Zeppelin (Stairway To Heaven, The Rain Song, Whole Lotta Love) Weezer (Jonas, Say It Ain't So, Buddy Holly) Fratellis (Whistle For The Choir, Chelsea Dagger, Henrietta)

Mainstream stuff currently

Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons, The Spirit Carries On, Stream of Consciousness

Against Me! - Pints of Guinness Make You Strong, The Ocean, Drinking With the Jocks

Imogen Heap - Getting Scared, Daylight Robbery, Bad Body Double

Nine Inch Nails - Somewhat Damaged, Happiness in Slavery, Terrible Lie

Pantera - Use My Third Arm, Hollow, Yesterday Don't Mean Shit

My top 5 can change anytime of course, but at least one of these 5 will always be in the list.

I have been meaning to check out more of Mogwai ever since I heard My Father, My King. Always seem to forget to though.

Actually if I could have a sixth you've gotta love the smiths -

1 there is a light that never goes out

2 heaven knows I'm miserable now

3 this charming man

They have just a criminal amount of great songs

Miles Davis Quintet (Kinda Blue era with Bill Evans on piano)

Einsturzende Neubauten

The Beatles

The Spiders from Mars

Television

wait, can I have 6? I forgot Portishead

Yeah, I love my post rock, and mogwai for me are the best out there. Even though there sound has evolved from mogwai young team, which was more Ricky, to rave tapes which has a more electronic vibe, they still always seem to provide that little bit of extra interest that many if the others don't.

That said sigur ros, god is an astronaut, 65dos, Russian circles, maybeshewill, this will destroy you, and Godspeed you black emperor are all pretty amazing.

If we're going for more classical artists now, let's see.

Debaussy Telemann Chopin Elgar Brahms Grieg

Brahms, Hungarian dances are some of my favourite pieces of music if all time.

Einsturzende Neubauten

You wonderful bastard I thought I was the only one within a 100 mile radius INCLUDING THIS FORUM to like this band. HELL YEAH

Yeah, I love my post rock, and mogwai for me are the best out there.

Wow, this makes me so happy :D, I'd recommend If These Trees Could Talk and Explosions in the Sky to you, and YES, I love Sigur Ros, I'm working my way through their albums. On Kveikur and Valtari right now.

I'm so sorry, I'm full on fan girling right now, I need to start listening to this stuff more :D

Suede (or London Suede), My Bloody Valentine, David Bowie, The Cure ( everything up until WISH), Echo& the Bunnymen. I feel that I have to mention Brian Eno too! I've been listening to his stuff a lot lately.

I have a number of friends who live right near you (hollywood, pasadena) who are die hard neubauten fans since... well, before you were born. And before I discovered them when Tabula Rasa came out. You just need to meet more people. Neubauten are hugely popular. Did you hear their comissioned ww1 piece? Whoa. Challenging stuff.

Eno's original rock solo album with 'needle through the camels eye" still nrings a smile to my face just like i am hearing it for the first time in highschool. Moreso than roxy music, it still sounds fresh.

I amnot surprised to read you are big into echoand the bunnymen and the cure.

Bauhaus? They just missed my top 5.

I have very high regards for Bauhaus. I love D. Ash's experimental guitar mentality and Peter's approach on singing borders performance art. And David J's fretless bass is really good. I listened to Bauhaus way more than Peter's solo stuff (which i do like) and Love & Rockets. I really liked Ash's solo work more than L&R. It was a real treat to see them live! Great stage presence!

I remember seeing Bauhaus for the 3rd time (they were on the same bill with NIN) and all these kids were like "who are these guys?" and "When is NIN playing?". I seriously wanted to do some bitch slapping! The Same thing Happened when NIN toured with Bowie. Same comments. I should say that I've never cared for NIN. Just always thought Reznor was overrated. But I absolutely love Johnny Cash's version of Hurt.

Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand In Mine - The Only Moment We Were Alone - Day One

If These Trees Could Talk - Malabar Front - Below the Sky - When the Big Hand Buries the Twelve

Ling Tosite Sigure Well okay, EB, screw you too. They're songs written in Japanese, so yeah.

Sigur Rós - Ísjaki - Var - Varúð

Igorrr - Barbeque (With Ruby, My Dear) - Mindgerb (With his band Whourkr) - Saelli (With Corpo-Mente)

"Terror couple kill colonel!!!!"

when Bauhaus first reunited I went to see them at the electric factory... I was not yet a huge fan, but I left the show a lifelong devoted follower. I really enjoy certain Love and Rockets stuff, its kinda like the other guys from Bauhaus trying to do their own New Order and I like that about it. Also, Daniel Ash is a really nice guy. I don't think I was aware of an NIN tour with Bauhaus as the opener. How odd. I just don't see that working. I actually really dig NIN, Ministry, KMFDM and Thrill Kill Kult as a piece of youthful nostalgia. They are the bands that got me turned onto a lot of other, more avante guard industrial like Neubauten and Skinny Puppy. Sometimes I really enjoy putting on March of the Pigs, Head Like a Hole, Wish or Perfect Drug and banging my head like a teenager again. Downward Spiral was a real technological and artistic milestone by anyone's yardstick. It cool these days tot rash TrentReznor, but the man's not without his talents.

I never really got into much explosions in the sky actually, I really should.
