Guitar Building Project!

This is a great question. Building my own guitar is definitely something I want to do in the not too distant future.

It might sound rather boring, but since Telecasters are my favorite guitars, for my 1st one I might just have to build one of my own. To be honest, I have NO idea where to start. I'm not sure if I would just start with an official Fender neck and body, or dig around eBay for something.

I'd do a light finish (probably Olympic White) with a rosewood neck, a lot like the Ritchie Blackmore Stratocaster. Black knobs, black pickups, chrome hardware.

I'll qualify this response with a disclaimer. I have never built my own guitar, but I do have aspirations to do so.

Having said that, I definitely want to start on a solid body (I don't have the guts to jump straight into the semi-hollows). I also know I want a Bigsby. I think some nice FilterTron style pickups would finish it off nicely. Now I'd lean toward a tobacco or sunburst style finish. I'm definitely not talented enough to pull that paint job off, but I'd value the imperfections.
