Actually, yes, but I think it was informal. I was told that when I was in elemantary school, some doctor may have told my parents I had it. I think they took me to some focus testing thing or another...

Anyways, imagine how it felt when your parents tell you about this and only just tell you the reason was something maybe called attention... something disorder? Attention... defecit disorder. There we go. Wow, thanks, guys. I had something called ADD and you never said anything about. Wonderful.

That, and a friend at church noticed too. He has it, and he's noticed my little habits that I do like smelling my nails... I don't even know why I do that. It just happens and I rarely question it anymore. That and few other habits.

The only thing is that some part of me is telling me that I'm just trying to find an excuse. It really does suck. Kind of like trying to swin with a cramp, and asking yourself whether that's a cramp, or you just complaining for no reason.

Oh well, shit, I forgot. No complaining, eh? What movie are you going to see?

I was told I had all those things when I was young. ADD, ADHD, Bi-Polar, Hyperactivity, etc. I believed I had them all even though as an adult people begged to differ. I ended up being in a long relationship with a PhD counselor and she flat out proved to me I did not have these things. I was just an asshole kid that went through a lot of abuse and hated the world for it.

I DO however feel that my concentration breaks more often than it should. They say the mind is only capable of thinking on one topic for 8 seconds at a time. I feel like I'm closer to 5.

How I overcome this with school is simple. When I do study, I have to do other things with it. Generally I have to write down the material to force my mind on it and read it to myself while writing. This helps. I also take many breaks. I study a page, I watch a 3 minute YouTube video. I read another, I read a forum page. I keep breaking it up so that I'm not just fighting myself to concentrate.

Off topic of our off topic conversation, but are you Church of England by chance? I only this semester really learned about that denomination in history class.

No, I think it's Foursquare Church, but I could be wrong.

I found this interesting.

I was looking at buying a cello or electric double bass, but Ive decided to cheat and just modify my fretless bass.

Are double bass and cello strings flats or rounds?

its not that simple, classical isntrument strigns aren't constructed like steel guitar (and bass) strings

a quick googling yielded this informative article

Hey, guys, I'm heading off to Lake Arrowhaed and I won't be back until Sunday, so I probably won't be on very much. Hopefully I can talk later, but anyways; have a good weekend!

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stephanie were there as well this weekend.

I am watching, "Me, Myself, and Irene" and I just noticed a HUGE error.

When they are shacked up in the motel, Irene and Charlie are laying on a bed together looking at a photo of his family. They begin slowly working toward a kiss when Charlie stops himself and says that he is drunk. He attempts to get out of the situation by going to the vending machine outside and getting a couple of cokes. When he returns, he explains that he nearly lost his temper outside but he was able to control his rage. Irene warms up and says, "Look what I found in my purse." She holds up a full bottle of Bacardi Rum and asks him if he drinks. He tells her, "Well, I dunno. I've been known to tip a few but.... well... alright."

Why is she asking him if he drinks if he was already drunk. Seems they edited it out of order.

my son's 3rd birthday party was an immense success today.... much better than the last 2 even though it was just at my house and not a massive event.... FUCK YOU CHUCK-E_CHEESE and similar kids venues.

I have to learn 9 songs before Christmas eve and in fact, I'm going to have to write classical double bass parts over certain songs. I tried to buy and download Guitar Pro 6 so I could tab it all out but they gave me some weird block on my card. They claim you have to sign up for a new security feature. I figured this was a scam and ignored it at first. I tried using this new security feature and even tried using paypal. I keep getting the error saying I am not allowed to buy the product. WTF? I don't have time for this.

Jim, howd he like Moana ?

Be a pirate! Destroy your computer in the process!

can't you just learn them by ear?

back when I sang my son to sleep I used to do this exercise where I would think of a bedtime setlist (some pop/rock/folk songs, children's songs, old standards etc) and then get the lyrics only off the internet, then practice singing the melody as best I could from memory while playing intuitively along on guitar.... next thing you know I would refine it, write it out if needed and generally if I bothered to look on the web my arrangement was the same as or better than the original (well, at least better for solo guitar and voice at 9pm next to crib, but you get me). It was sually about an hour's work for 5 songs, maybe a little longer if I loaded too many numbers in that hail from the Sinatra and nat king cole era and had to really fidget with some 'jazz progressions' as strummers like to call 'em

just start with the melody, the basic triads from the chords and aybe some diatonic harmony as passing tones and build from there using your memory. Sometimes listening to a song too much makes it harder to transcribe

I enjoyed Moana, what i saw of it... he got bored and misbehaved about halfway through and I had to take him out in the lobby. It was not a resounding success of a 1st theatrical movie, but that's down to him being unable to sit still and be quiet for more than an hour and I shoulda known better! As bright as he is, he likes his entertainment short so he can get back to jumping around and taking stuff apart....

if you need help with the x-mas music, just ask. I will help you! I am off from work for the next week.

My store is right next to a college and isolated, so now that it's December, it's taken two hours since opening to only get five customers. Pretty nice. It's also fucking cold outside. 42 degrees and windy. California weather is messed up....

42 and windy is NOT cold.... that's my region's wather in October

I've been to LA in the winter many times, its at worst a little brisk, very pleasant if a bit rainier than the Boston to DC corridor where I'm from. When you guys get a quick rains torm its like all hell broke loose for a few hours....

It's cold for us because we're not used to it! We get heat waves all the time, then this wind and cool air comes all like "I'm fresh and brisk!" and scares every Californian shitless.

It's 1110 and the sun shines once again. It was 42 a few hours ago, and I'm sure it'l warm up too much again.
