Share your synth setup

Cool new message board. Ok people share your synth stations! Me first: http://equipboard.com/rowlandrose

The rarest thing I probably have is the MIDINES... very fun tool.

What in the world is a MIDINES? And why is it rare?

It's a nintendo cartridge (for the old 8-bit Nintendo) with a midi-out cable... lets you control the NES sound chip via midi. Two square waves, one Triangle, one noise, one samples. http://www.wayfar.net/

MIDINES looks bad ass! There's another piece of gear for the want list. :-)

I'm still adding all of the gear from my setup to Equipboard, but there's a picture of my Eurorack setup here:

Midines is super fun. Man I would love to get into making a modular synth... I assume the shapeshifter makes the waveforms, sort of like the starting point... (well after keyboard or sequencer of course)

I bet it is. I love that 8 bit sound.

DIY is a lot of fun in modular-land. Here are some pics of a couple of recent builds I did:

Shapeshifter is a digital dual complex oscillator, among other things (like a vocoder!). Depending on how you patch things up, it could definitely be your starting point.

I have an access virus B, I cant get it to work on Logic Pro X though :(

I have got some hardware synth, but always find myself using Abletons Analog and Operator, because it is so fast to work with, and don't have to record. http://equipboard.com/adamfiregate

Yea software VST can be a lot easier (and cheaper). But I've been moving toward hardware recently just so I could have an interesting live show.

My (hardware) synths are: Pittsburgh Modular System 10, Minimoog Voyager RME, Arturia Minibrute, Waldorf Rocket and EMU Orbit V2. Software synths (industry standard): NI Massive and Sylenth1 but also Gmedia Oddity, Z3TA+, Arturua ARP2600, Audio Realism ABL1.5, ABL Pro, Absynth, FM8,

Never used a real ARP2600 but I can connect to any software emulation's interface of that hardware. Brilliant in my opinion. Arturia's take is very good on that.

THE ARP2600 do not sound close to the real ARP2600 but nice its have the seq added. I prefer the timeARP 2600 version from Way Out ware. But you need to buy a iLok USB key. The eLicencer is much better like Arturia have

Aha I seriously wish I had as much gear as some of you guys, FM8 is all I use but I do love it :D I'm interested in hardware honestly although I don't have a lot of space.

Post a Vine or Instagram vid, show us a sick patch you made with FM8 😎

GEAR:
  • Fender Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar
  • Big Ear Pedals Woodcutter
  • HeadRush FRFR Go Portable Desktop Amplifier

Haha sadly I don't use Vine or Instagram or many social media sights honestly! :( Well the patches I make aren't complicated at all I don't use it for like Dubstep growls like you hear from Skrillex and Noisia, but if you want to hear how I use it you could check out my soundcloud page? It is the only synth I use, so all the sounds apart from drums are from FM8 (apart from one or two ableton sounds.) :) If you're interested: https://soundcloud.com/thejameskellymusic
