This needs an app or something

This is a very lame lame lame site on an iPhone, can't do anything but ass what everyone else is using and buying it. Can't edit my profile, can't ass equipment, just basically window shop :(

Works just fine on my shitty droid-based phone. But the mobile site is crap, I have to load the real site.

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

I hate mobile sites to begin with so if I ever had to use my android to be on the site, I would be clicking the "Show Desktop" option to begin with. I've never seen a mobile site that was worth looking at.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the feedback on the mobile site. I'm one of the guys responsible for building Equipboard, so it's extremely helpful to hear what you have to say.

The Equipboard team is still pretty small - hopefully growing soon ;) With limited resources, we need to work on the things that have the biggest impact for the most people. When making a mobile site, we decided to first focus on a read-only experience (and following artists you like):

la_phant you're absolutely right, we need to make it so that you can add new gear, save gear, and contribute items to artists from the mobile app. We actually really want to build a native mobile app for iPhone & Android soon!

jimmarchi1 I'm curious about your feedback - what types of things would you want to be able to do on mobile?

I feel you guys' pain too. It would be awesome if I could write a review or save new gear or upvote a good comment from my phone... and right now none of that is possible :(

What would be extremely helpful to the Equipboard team is to hear the things that would be most important to you on an Equipboard mobile experience. What are you missing the most?

Thanks!! 🤘

GEAR:
  • Fender Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar

  • HeadRush FRFR Go Portable Desktop Amplifier

Okay awesome!!! Hope it's up soon, living in hollywood keeps me on the go nonstop where I don't have time to get to a computer and mess around on this site, so to be able to do everything on a smartphone as you can from a laptop would super effective, to to mention you'd be able to snap photos of equipment at shows and upload it to the site!

my iPhone doesn't even offer me to load up the real site ????????????????

The banner at the bottom wanting me to login is annoying too. On the full site, not the mobile.

+1 on mobile app!! Pleaaassse! I've been on Equipboard since early days and I love how it gets better all the time, but stepping up the mobile game would be huge. I think a native app could make a lot of the interactions with other users really interesting.

The home page feed for example - being able to filter it to just the things I care about (just electronic musicians & DJs for example), and vote things up or add comments (or corrections even in the case of submissions) inline. Saving stuff to my list would be nice as well from the app.

see, I would rather just be able to do the forum and review gear on the mobile site... I really don't like being limitited to a bunch of famous dude's equipboards... that's not why I sign in every day or so. Just overall more interactivity and less emphasis on big name musicians would be cool. I am not a hero-worshipper and there are a bunch of guys like me lurking around this site reviewing gear out the whazoo. Let us be heard even when we're on the subway!

Cheers!

GEAR:

I totally second all of that!

Couldn't you just log in, though? You have an account.

I'm sure the creators of this site were going for more members and put that there for that reason, kind of like Pinterest. you can't view anything on there until you make an account. Thank Equipboard that it doesn't block the entire page.

This.

This is a very thoughtful comment. EB is the best resource on the web to see what the famous guys and gals use - no question here. Sure, the catalogue of artists and gear needs to get bigger - ok MUCH bigger - but I have no doubt it will, Every day it looks like there are hundreds of new submissions in my feed (btw can you add filtering gchiaren pls & thx).

But when it comes to browsing gear, I feel like it's SO close to being something really special. I can't really think of a site where I can go to get all kinds of info on gear that isn't some big store like musicians friend or sweetwater. Sure there are old~ish sites like vintage synth explorer but EB has the potential to be oh so much better.

I'd love to see the gear part of the site step it up (and sure, the forum too - Gearslutz is a mess). And that includes being awesome on mobile.

/my 2 cents

In reply to Ronny, I'd like to just second your forum idea. Gearslutz is a mess, but these forums aren't any different, there's no order. Topics just get thrown on a list, and the OCD in me wants to fix that. UG certainly knows what's going on with there forums.

Sure, the UG forums seem a little basic and messier, but It's a lot better than that list of topics we have now.

Don't get me started on GearSlutz! I like that this site is way more pinterest-like. The limited forum prevents flame wars and such and its so easy to find a piece of gear you are thinking of purchasing and see what everyone's saying about it. This could turn into the coolest music equipment site on the web. It is close already, that's why I keep coming back and keep reviewing every guitar, synth, amp etc that I have ever used.

CLOSE contender to being the biggest. Except we're up against UberproAudio. They're very complete with who has what, but it doesn't look like they cite sources, so they make me very skeptical, even if they are accurate.

I'm too lazy to log on. :)

uber pro is a bunch of bunk! stock photos, no years specified for guitars and amps... AND NO USER REVIEWS!

Haha, you're right about that. Though, the comments count for something, eh? Random people saying "I though [insert musician] had [insert gear]?"

Uber still has a lot going, though, so, if anything, we should get going with the app. Imagine if it had a feature that can snap photos and upload to artists as gear photos, eh?

Well, I tend to go to sweetwater and amazon for reviews but you are right about Uber.

I've found inaccurate gear on artists' pages there many times. I've even seen bass players with guitar gear on them.

TO SIMS:

I do believe we need a way to message other members directly.

great idea.... gchiaren?????
