Verified artist

How famous do you have to be before you get verified as an artist?

roxell, this is a great question, and one we get often. The Equipboard community is defined by people wanting to discover the gear that influential people use. It's hard to have a strict definition for influential people; it generally means someone who is recognized as an expert in their craft, is well-known because of that expertise, and has a following.

For now, as a general rule at least two of the following must be true:

  • You have a Verified Twitter account.
  • You have a verified profile or Page on Facebook.
  • You are covered/interviewed by one or more legitimate media publications (e.g. Rolling Stone, Guitar Player, Billboard, Future Music).
  • You have a catalogue of numerous music releases (if on a label, preferably on a somewhat well-known label).
  • You have toured, and proof of your touring is readily available.
  • You have a very large social media following (although this isn't always a great signal, since social media followers can be purchased...).
  • You are an influencer in a specialized channel (e.g. a YouTube personality with followers in the 6-7 figure range).

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any thoughts or I can help clear anything up ✌️
