Where are your income taxes going?

I thought I was going to owe the IRS this year but thanks to a nifty new act, I actually got 2,200 back after expenses.

  1. New Bass - I found a crazy Japanese bass called an Atilia or something. Sounds great and Japanese necks make me smile.

  2. New Bass... Again. - I have a couple of options. I thought about getting a custom Carvin I've had my eye on for like 6 months. I almost want to order a Chapman bass but without playing one, it is risky for me and it's only a 4 string. Maybe an Ashdown CTM 100. I don't have any tube heads so... maybe. I also thought about getting an Ibanez BTB.

  3. New Clothes - Needed badly. I changed the way I dress this year and don;t plan to go back.

Carvin makes a great bass. Go for it.

How 'bout you, Lash Laroux? Where's your money going. I'm deducting GearIQ for unselfish choices.

actually due to divorce issues I have nothing to allocate selfishly or unselfishly... nice Tarantino reference...

I might buy myself a present in March anyway depending on how a few things pan out between then and now.... can a man ever have too many guitars if they are all different?

NO a man can never have too many guitars. EVER.

Mine is either going toward a tattoo or more likely a RR style Jackson. Or maybe an Epiphone I dunno.

You actually can have too many if there are some that don't make it in rotation once a month, but I have yet to hit that number and play every guitar I own for at least and hour every 30 days.... I just ahd my son help me decide which 2 I will be keeping on stands for daily noodling this week (he shocked me and went with 2 teles). I think I have 9 good electrics right now and would like to break 10 again so maybe another semi-hollow or LP? Or a strat? I am eyeing some cool older stuff lately, but I am really picky as well as being notoriously tight fisted, doubly so since becoming a father.... I know I shouldn't buy a 10th guitar, but I really like to acquire a guitar or amplifier every 6 months even if I part with one I have tired of.

apart from fearing middle-age-tattoo-regret (aka MATR syndrome, a condition that can only be cured with lasers) I also never got inked because its expensive and I like tospend every available penny of luxury money on guitars and amps... and cigarettes and liquor, but these days that budget is the little boy budget. Smoking is supposedly unhealthy anyway :-(

Yeah I'm guessing your a little older than me by the back and forths we've been having- no offense meant at all. You seem cool and your reviews (as well as your comments even) seem well thought out, not wordy or condescending, but still very knowledgeable. I'm about halfway through my twenties, lost a really good job at the post office at the end of last year (GREAT pay for my age group but I hated it, badly), haven't been working since, yet. I am tight fisted about many things, Guitars and cigs are not in that group haha. Yeah my best bro just had a kid with his girl, it really tightens the reigns so to speak on your purse-strings I guess (wouldn't know otherwise). I have three or four playable guitars currently, you know what they are so I won't list them, def getting a LP Epi I think, found one with push-pull pots on CL. I moved back at my dads place, he has at least 5 playable electrics, an acoustic, a bass, several keyboards, amps (a few tube, a few SS, no Tube/state like me,he's smart), probably other stuff too I don't know about.. he's a little bit country, and I'm more Rock n' Roll (heh, Metal mostly). But yeah, I use each guitar at least an hour a day. I play for between 4-5 hours a day sometimes more though with the increase in free time (trying to get better for a jam band). Don't even get me started on Liquor, Cigarettes though... lol, "supposedly". ;)

No tattoos here either! It would be my first, honestly. I wanted "1313" across my left knuckles... Might as well get "forget" a job on my neck, huh? Haha :P

I'm 35, divorced, father of 1 little punk-ass rocker. Ex recording engineer and studio manager/accountant, now I work in healthcare finance. I think dealing AP?AR has made me more miserly than I legitimately need to be, though getting divorced has been expensive. I'm from philly and after a stint in DC am back in my hometown. Where are you from?

Oh okay your only about 8 or 9 years older than me. I'm born and raised in Syracuse, New York, pretty much dead center of New York state... not far from Syracuse University.. yanno, Jim Boeheim, Carmelo Anthony? Lol. But thats awesome congrats on your lil punk rocker. I listen to alot of metal (Ozzy, CoB, Maiden, AiC, GnR) and punk(NoFX,Pistols,Rancid, even Sum41/blink) mostly , but I'm pretty versatile. Yessir, I took sound engineering/recording at a community college, but I'm more of a player and a tweaker (minor tweaks only)... been in several bands mostly Classic Rock or Hardcore and metal bands. Whats "dealing AP AR" mean by the way? Nice dude, I took Anatomy and biology trying to break into healthcare, didn't work 4 me. I really hate normal jobs like to the point that I don't care... tryin to get ex-guitarist to open a equip shop with me... I dunno. As for the girlfriend/wife thing, I'm not even gonna crack that egg dude.. I'd be on here all day..

But yeah greetings from New York, your alright, I wish you and your young one well, my friend! What kinda music you like, I get your into punk a bit as well, an I've seen you talk about Lou Reed, couple other oldies guys..?

Hey, welcome. If there's one thing that I've learnt after nearly a year on EB, it's that papa Jimmy is usually right, whether you like it or not, even if the way he puts it across is incredibly dickish (No offense, but it happens), and just like a family it's our duty to remind him that, every once in a while.

But seriously though, he has an incredible musical database up in his head, and he can comment well on pretty much anything; truly something to aspire to.

Me Liam, and Narcy, don't have as much experience; none of us have toured, or had studio, and gear experience like the mods, and boom, jim, absentwalrus, nicky etc., but that doesn't mean we're idiots.

My scene is more alt rock smashing pumpkins stuff, as well as post, and proggy rock, and metal, such as maiden, dream theatre, mogwai, russian circles, aninmals as leaders, 65dos, pink floyd, etc, and if I appear butthurt, or mad, I'm a teenager, and so justified. ;)

Also the typeface/lexicon/whatever the right term is, is really fking stupid here!!! Don't experiment with stars, or stuff, it gets wierd.

Oh, hey there. That's cool yeah, Jim seems knowledgeable, and I wasn't offended by anything he says, sometimes I come off as overly apologetic, mostly to avoid confrontations. That's cool though I subscribed to your page a night or two ago. As far as the database/knowledge issue, I haven't toured but I have gigged and have some studio knowledge (more minor than Jim's or the moderators you mentioned, Im sure) with a wide knowledge about most amps and guitars, nothing too far out of that range though. I grew up with a multi-instrument musician for a father and he redoes guitars and amps or whatever, and has gigged/toured, all that junk and he's alot older than jim, me or you, so if you hear something I say that seems like I'm lying out of my butt or just coming up with it out of thin air, it's probably my dad, or my ex guitarist who is in school to become a luthier. So yeah, don't count me out jus cuz Im a little older or younger, or some B.S. I tried to get him to come on here but the most he will do is watch youtube or whatever.

Anyways, I will TRY not to use any symbols and stuff, however I am wicked accustomed to doing so with txting and the like, so sorry bro bear with me. Big maiden fan, also. But I honestly don't even remember what I typed if something showed up weird? (What does typeface/lexicon even mean, smiley faces Im guessing??)

Also sorry, not a big forum guy usually, just giving this a try, and as you guessed I've been on here for about 8 or 9 days now. Thanks for the helpful tip and the welcome though! Good man!

PS- I just reread your comment, did I say something offensive/ or appear offended by something Jim said? if so Im not mad nor was I upset at all. I havent been a teenager for several years, but my dickish attitude has not gone away yet haha.

Just curious also as to whether you had any other tips about our site here, EquipBOARD? Any other rules I mean besides going crazy on here swearing or some nonsense? Also, I messed up ONE submision, and I cannot delete them? I know this may be the wrong thread here, but you've been here a year and I figured I'd post and ask you, Jim, anyone who wants to answer/comment..

Thanks again! Good to meet ya bro! Keep rockin ;)

There aren't really any massive ground rules, but use your common sense, I guess. In my memeory I can only remember one person being kicked off the site, and the was chris cornell's brother who was being an idiot in some way.

Obviously duplicates, are annoying, and try to avoid making them, but it's not the end of the world, just alert the EB guys on the designated threads all overt the general, and guitar forums, and they'll take them, and whatever else down, usualyy,

You didn't appear overly pissed, It's fine! That's me talking from MY experience. You're definitely very apologetic! Are you Canadian XD? Oh stereotypes

What's your favourite maiden song? I really love the music of blood brothers, but I hate the chorus, the trooper is very good in all aspects, and tbh pretty much all there songs are amazing, but my favourite riffs are aces high, and the trooper, music in general, the rme of the ancient mariner, and all around song, fear of the dark.

Typeface examples: all with stars

hello - 1 star per sid

hello -2 stars per side

hello -3 stars per side

And check out Jim's accidental table on his collab thread

Nah I'm from New York... it doesn't go over well here at all, I started realizing this site was mostly Brits, which is great. I get along better with UK guys and gals than most New Yorkers haha. But thanks for the intro I will check out Jims thing in a few mins, wondering what that about. I will try to find that thread, some parts of the site confuse me but for the most part it is very straight forward and more user friendly I feel than say facebook. Appear overly pissed? So I seemed a little pissed? haha nah not at all, I'm good.

As for the asterisks I realized last night after I did that that it either slanted my word or emboldened it. Also, I'll try to be accurate with submissions, and not repeat my self/duplicate posts, etc. Again, not a big forum person, so I'm learning as I go I suppose.

I've been really into Maiden since maybe age 12, my fave is Dave Murray, Adrian is great too.. but Bruce is in incredible man, same with Harris, they all are! I LOVE Brave New World, I own most their albums and the ones I didn't own I downloaded my fave songs... which are Powerslave (was my username on everything), the into to Benjamin Breeg, Speed of Light is awesome and the video is even more awesome, plus 2 mins,Prowler, and the trooper being maybe 3rd-5th placing.. oh Fear too, yeah big time. Not much that I can fully just not stand by them! Starblind is cool. The mercenary, dream of mirrors, Out of the Silent Planet and Ghost of the Navigator are all super crazy awesome songs also, haha. Chorus isn't bad on Blood Bros, its a little bit pop-ish for a Maiden song chorus, but yeah. And I am a Christian but I love Sign of the Cross and Number of the Beast, eh sue me.

Chris Cornell's brother...? Like Soundgarden Cris Cornell? More of an AiC or Pearljam guy myself. What did he do if you don't mind me asking, to get kicked out or what have you...

...cuz I'm gonna DO IT! Haha I'm obvs joking, I really enjoy this site and will try hard not to get kicked out. :P

Theres a thread on him I think. From about two months ago. He started making himself artists pages and stuff, and bigging himself up, and some other stuff I think

but Pete was a legitimate artist with his band black market radio., low level, but legitimate, we were on the same little label (buncha assholes, grr)... pete borrowed my strat and I think one of the plexis I used to have back then.
