Your Musical Evolution

When I was three, I only fantasized about killing Arnold Schwarzenegger in the steamy jungles of South America, hip-tossing the Shredder into a garbage truck, and allowing Jack Nicholson to fall from the top of a church.

This seems like a great childhood.

EDIT: Non sarcastic.

also forgot to mention that I played cello for a while and got a (limited) education in music theory. not that I use it or anything. I'm not classically trained, I taught myself to play in my garage.

In grade 7 I overheard the general music teacher talking with my new specialist trumpet teacher while I was performing an assessment piece on a non instrument (the recorder). Trumpet asked her what did she think, and she replied that he (I) was completely tone deaf and would never play a note.

I cannot read or write music, which sucks, but I adapted and survived in the industry... neener neener to them!

I can read very very limitedly.

Don't feel bad, I probably had a lot more formal training than you but I'm a pretty rusty sightreader anyway because I just don't need to sightread a lot of notation these days. It doesn't come up a lot as a guitarist unless you play classical.... and when you are reading through a aprt on your own just to decipher it you can go as slow as you need to, right? so no worries

but the theory behind being able to read a chart? that's irreplacable

I was trained in middle school band for trombone and tuba from 6th to 7th grade, but I hated it. I felt limited in what I could do. I did learn how to read sheet music for those two instruments, but I only used it the first time we played a song. I would then just remember what the order of notes were. I think if I had joined jazz band in high school, I would have been so much better off but I was not in the right head-space to take anything on then. I quickly lost the ability to read sheet music out of not using it. I still remember the fundamentals, but I can't tell you which line represents which note. I was especially offended by it when I discovered each instrument plays on a different line.

we should probably change the title of this thread to "Boom's Musical Autobiography" so his fans can have an easier time finding it

I'm open to that but only after chapter 20 is finished :)

also, as a three year old I fantasized about shooting britney spears and dating avril lavigne (back when she was a skater chick).

I would still like to fuck Avril... she's adorable though even these days she has a look to her that says "I am sexually tame and naive." anyway, we would make a killer record together her fans would hate and no one would uy and our love child would be named Alistaire.

I actually just heard of her this week in the breakroom. We were discussing how unatractive Johnny Depp's daughter is when someone mentioned Hailie Mathers. She's a solid 9

Everything about Johnny Depp is disgusting, including his family.

That said, so is the term "snot pocket."

deryck whibley, step aside. the era of jim has come.
