Anyone eyeing anything for Christmas? I'm planning on getting a Deluxe Big Muff, some ToneRider Rock Song Alnico 2 humbucker and some CTS 500k pots etc to wire them into my Les Paul as I broke one of the pots and warranty won't cover it. Because it was my fault for being abit rough with the push pull switch but alwell.

So any of you guys getting much?

Nice, sounds like you're gonna have a fun holiday :)

I'm on the lookout for a vintage Gibson ES-325. I need to find just the right one, we'll see if it happens in time for christmas. Other than that, I'm eyeing Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 Pro. I need to do a thorough comparison between that and other guitar amp simulator software out there before I pull the trigger.

GEAR:
  • Fender Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar
  • Big Ear Pedals Woodcutter

I usually prefer CTS to alpha pots, but the Alpha push-push pots are great. Look them up.

you don't see that many 'wrong' ones anymore... what an odd vintage guitar to fixate on

I know, isn't it?? I was first made aware of it by Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon (I'm a big fan). I later picked one up at a music store in San Francisco, and it felt so so nice to play. I should have bought it there and then, she's the one that got away.

I usually use Alpha push pull pots, give Bourns ago too. Thinking doing two CTS and Two push pulls so I can spilt and phase. Also going get a gold switch craft toggle from america as in england no one seems to stock the gold or black ones which sucks

Good luck find the Gibson :) when ya manage to track one down be sure to post it haha. I could do with getting some amp simulator software and some decent recording software too at some point. Hope you find that ES 325

My first foray into the world of tube amplification, in the form of a second hand laney vc15. Yes, it's not exactly an AC30 (So don't say a word Jimmy!), but it's the first rung on the ladder, to decent tube amps. My dream amp setup (Apart from the complicated one I posted on a previous thread, and that is in my gearporn), would be an a-b switch into three amps, a rockerverb set to insane crunch, an or100 adding a bit of light drive, and a clean Mesa Boogie thing of some sort.

Don't even get me started on pedals; I made a list of my dream board once, and it was around 50ish pedals big, with obvious implications.

And on the subject of pedals I am replacing my overdrive, and my "Modulation Spot Unit", so I'll see what's cheap, and good-(I like the sweet baby, by Joyo, or for a bit more money the soul food. I'm a klonny kind of guy). In terms of modulation, I'll probably get a flange, a phase or a vibe, and one that's not too much, so phase 90, ph3, bf2, (Insert BOSS modulation unit that doesn't sound like total crap). Elsewhere in the future I'm eyeing up, an expression pedal for my pitchfork (Is it possible to build a device that can share one expression pedal between many pedals?), a movall scorpion suhr riot thing, movall octopuzz, mxr bluebox, zvex fuzz factory, super pulsar, ring thing, talking machine, and woolly mammoth seven.

Unfortunately for us guitarists money, doesn't grow on trees.

A guy I know on a forum has a Carvin he made himself that I plan to buy in February. It's a single/single jazz bass with a MM bucker in between them. Sounds incredible. I told him if he still had it by then, I'd buy it. It's been on the "buy me" list for a year almost now.

Also, my Spector bass, my baby, the bass that ended my bass lust and need to buy more basses... I want to install an 18v battery box on the back. Thing sucks battery hard and the system sounds so powerful on 9v already... cant wait to hear it on 18v.

I have been getting rid of gear and wasn't planning on purchasing anything for myself for the holidays... but, you know, I am kinda thinking about buying one of those TC nova systems for when I am feeling all 'effectcy'.... it all depends how much more Thomas the Tank crap I buy my son.

I literally mean PUSH PUSH pots, they are like a latching footswitch and make a nice healthy click when engaged, no pulling at all (that's what breaks them, people get al excited pulling on the push pulls like a... well)

You know... I've always wanted a kill switch. Maybe I need to have that put in as well.

You know... I've always wanted a kill switch. Maybe I need to have that put in as well.

I hope when you say killswitch, you mean something like this, and not a literal switch. I have one on my Aria Pro II, just between the two black knobs. It's super noisey when switching and is way too slow for glitchy stuff.

Go for a button, bro.

Back to subject, I want a Little Martin. Though, if I do, I plan on replacing the preamp with an L.R. Baggs. Not sure which, but one that will accentuate the sound of palm hitting wood.

Edit: Wait, that Ed Sheeran model looks even better...

what about a giant Frankenstein lever? speaking of killswitches, I had an idea years ago to disconnect all the volume controls on my amps and replace them with mute buttons so no one could ask me to turn down, but then I thought better of modding vintage amps like that, even for the purposes of humor!

I'm eyeing Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 Pro. I need to do a thorough comparison between that and other guitar amp simulator software out there before I pull the trigger.

I just noticed this.... Guitar Rig is the ONLY computer based simulaton short of the amps in the UAD1 I can stand, though your converters will determine the fidelity and it will never be perfect because your pickup is 'seeing' a perfect virtual 1megohm load instead of the variable load presented when you plug directly into a good tube amp.... with great converters a really great simulation will sound like you are running a buffer all the time, which is fine for most people though personally it bugs me when I am just trying to have a dry track because it keeps me from 'playing' the virtual amp like I would a real amp.... its more of a feel thing though and I'm not sure more casual electric guitar players will notice

in short, if you don't have a great tube amp or two? buy guitar rig for x-mas
