FENDER STROCASTER VS TELECASTER

I apologise for my inadvertent disrespect. As advertant as it sounded, I only mouth for what I believe is right.. even though my perceptions sometimes send me face first into walls.

GEAR:
  • Fender MIJ Jazzmaster JM62
  • Epiphone Dot
  • Electro-Harmonix Sovtek "Green Russian" Big Muff Pi V7C

dude, what are you talking about....

also, I dumped more info in your amp thread

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

sweet I will go check it out. There is a clone called Mojotone... http://www.mojotone.com/kits/TweedAmpKits_x/Mojotone-Tweed-Pro-Style-Amplifier-Kit_2

Are they worth checking out?

GEAR:
  • Fender MIJ Jazzmaster JM62
  • Epiphone Dot
  • Electro-Harmonix Sovtek "Green Russian" Big Muff Pi V7C

Don't mind me.. I'm a little nuts. It's cool... I use this to my advantage. Helps me create!

GEAR:

yes, the mojo kits are very nice, a distinct cut above the webers... my pro is a mutt, real fender reissue cab (not sure what happened to the amp), some mojo bits, some stuff the guy who made it used from his stash of old parts, weber 15" alnico, fender transformers.... I have it lstied as a reissue, but its a mix of kit stuff and god knows what vintage and RI stuff assembled by a lunatic tech... I would have to get a hold of him to find out what is what in her

so I have a semi-mojotone pro copy

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard

I love how your posts grow... you read them, you reply to them then realise they have sprouted another head... so you reply to that... and there's another head!

GEAR:

yeah, I have problems.... I get the gist and then realize I forgot some details.... or I come up with another train of thought. Especially with amps, its a very complicated topic if you wanna be picky.

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

some time I'll send you the ultra-long review of the handwired AC4 reissue I wrote for EB that Michael and Gchiaren rejected when I couldn't find anything I was willing to cut! I just couldn't take a word out, I felt like it was too sparse on info in the form I submitted LOL

apparently I am not cut out for gear journalism, I write a book on every circuit before even discussing performance of the model under review

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6

tempted to save the $500 odd and tackle the build myself.

its a complicated 1st build man, really complex.... have you ever built a champ? or even some pedals?

anyway, you need to TRY a pro or super first to make sure I am not barking up the wrong tree with this, but I think one of those 2 combos will get your rocks off pretty good....

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

the pro is really a strat/tele (especially tele) amp because the 15" smooths things out up top whereas the super I think of as the humbucker configuration, though a les paul and a pro is fine, you just might need more treble and the lows will have a looser 50s blues quality versus the tighter sound from the super that's more out and out rock

It depends what your are going to use it for... Telecasters are good for more country (Brad Paisley) or rhythm for rock (Izzy Stradlin) Stratocatser are more useful for lead (Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen...) I personally have a Stratocaster and you can use it for rhythm but it gives a lot of feed back.

Telecasters are good for more country

Will my Tele beat me senseless if I run it into my Deucetone Rat into a Sunn Model T at 10?

Model T is sort of like if Fender made a Marshall superlead (at least one of the versions, there are 2 distinctly different preamps, but the plexi type one is most common).... my teles LOVE gain pedals into cranked Marshalls.... so it will beat you senseless in a good, Fugazi kinda way

when did you get a Model T? seems a bit loud for you LOL

I think my esquire is probably my favorite lead guitar.... could use more upper fret access and the vintage fretboard radius makes it challenging (even with fairly high action you need to be really conscious of how you bend and vibrato), but it just makes you work at it when you wanna go high or avoid the really high shrieking stuff and play more creatively... any time I can get away with a little single coil hum I invariably go for this guitar because it fights me and it has a tough sound when overdriven, the notes just jump outta the speakers.... it basically does 2 sounds, warm but bright and really bright.... no fussing around, no nonsense guitar for lead and it really makes you get creative compared to something like my LPs thata re smooth, forgiving, easy to play and chock full of sounds that don't require playing technique to produce (just start adjusting controls on your LP between phrases its like an FX unit).... the great thing about teles and particularly the esquire is you are really limited to what you can do with just your hands and feet (if you are using FX) and you gotta really play into the fuckers which generally makes for some creative decisions... theya re underrated lead guitars, particularly for rock, but in the hands of a guy who will embrace the tele thing? powerful stuff comes out that the same guy won't give you on a gibby or a strat

Haha, it was just a stupid scenario because I always find it funny when someone says a certain instrument or effect or whatever is suited best for [insert genre here]. It just tickles me, but yeah, Teles are good for country, but saying that is quite pointless in my opinion.

And shit, I'd need to be rolling in FAFSA money to get myself a Model T, and not the reissue!

yeah, its kinda like pontificating that a 59 standard is an ideal guitar to play Zeppelin covers

interestingly there was a time when the tele really went out in country music circles.... the strat really took over for awhile and even now that Paisley brought the tele back to Nashville you see a lot of guys sporting gibsons and stuff

The Strat's sound is more about classic rock and blues. It's worth noting also, that classic rock and blues are pretty much the same, or are the same in all but attitude in many cases.

You can also play classic rock and blues on a Tele, because the Tele is an all-time great classic rock and blues guitar. But with a Tele, you can also play country, a little jazz, plus punk rock, alternative and all of its derivatives.

GEAR:
  • Rickenbacker 360 Electric Guitar
  • Rickenbacker 330-12 12-String Guitar
  • Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb Blondie LTD

The Strat's sound is more about classic rock and blues.

Okay okay, but quick question:

How many bruises will my strat give me if all I play is pentatonic runs into metul zoan?
