Gear Purchases

Well, I do, for the most part. If I remember correctly, a buffer simply converts high impedance to low impedance. You put it after drives and long cables because all of that is high inpedance lowers the quality of your signal.

What I was saying is that I don't usually go looking for buffers as much as I do for drives and reverbs and etc.

To be honest, I don't know. I've never looked too much into buffers. I know Empress makes a buffer with an effects loop, and a Plus version with a line boost and I think a sort of noise gate. Big Ear NYC has a buffer in a mini enclosure. ths1smyne and Visual Sound make tiny buffers, Emerson makes on with jacks on one side of a mini enclosure, and I can't think of anything else.

The Little Black Amp Boxis actually a passive attenuator, not a buffer. All else I know is the EHX Signal Pad.

for the record a buffer is a unity (or near unity) gain line amplifier that by definition puts out a low impedance signal

I just purchased my 1st mic: Blue Yeti Pro. Hooray! I then realized, buying a mic doesn't mean, good to go. Boo! To be clear, I am the one with the problem. The Yeti itself is great. Its just all the other crap you can buy to go with any given piece of gear. From the mic, I went to pop filters, interface systems and XLR cables. Now looking at mic stands and... Is this gear acquisition thing more of an addiction or best considered as retail therapy?! ~m

I was just demo'ing the Morning Glory and thought it was pretty great. It's a Bluesbreaker clone, and I just remembered Snouse makes some reputable clones of the BB. They're a fair bit expensive, so I'll have to save up u-

Quick question for the pedal afficionados.

Does there exist a "touch-sensitive tremolo" such as one that can have a set rate like a standard tremolo, but ramps up the rate according to how hard you pick?

up until recently? no.... but I remember watching a NAMM video last week for something that's like dirt and trem that's playing reactive.... I just don't know who made it, check the premier guitar site and sift the NAMM videos

I'll have to check once I clock out later. If I find nothing, I'm thinking of just getting Earthquaker's tremolo and hooking up an expression pedal to it. That might be better.

Looking at the exp options on this one, might be close to what you are chasing...

A little vit late, there, but thank you nonetheless!

I actually fpund quite a few, all of which were ridiculously full of bells and whistles and other stuff and usually too big. Super Pulsar look promising, but it's just too much.

Actually, Keeley makes a version of this called the Dynatrem. Envelope tremolo as I need, bit of reverb, and great sounding tremolo. However, I'm also torn between the Hummingbird. It's basically an expression pedal versus envelope. Both are appealing. I might turn to the Hummingbird and expression pedal first and get the Dynatrem pater, but i'm not sure just yet.

All good. Popped up on my feed. Thought of you.

I just pulled the trigger on a Visual Sound volume pedal. It's the more updated version, looks to be in great condition, and even comes with a box. Only $175 plus shipping. I feel I scored. There were WAY grosser looking versions that were unboxed and were ranging close to $400.

Only $175 plus shipping

Who the hell would sell this thing for more than $120?

They aren't being made anymore. Finding one that is in good shape all around is hard to come by for a small amount. They are going for $500 new and in box.

Does this have some sort of circuit that's difficult to repair?

no clue.

WI wanted to replace one of the green LED's with a yellow one. That's the only maintenance I looked into.

My Deucetone Rat is making a surprising bit of noise! Two Rats is noise hell!! Anyways, I pulled the trigger on a Boss Noise Supressor for $40. It's a temporary solution. Waiting on it to ship.

Can't wait until I save up for more shrinking and upgrades :)

that noisy? what about with the guitar volume turned down is any of it coming from your guitar? what about your cables? are you certain they're not feeding it interference its amplifying with all that gain?
