Any opinions on the Bogner Alchemist? I have an opportunity to get a 212 for a very low price once I flip my Blackstar, but I hear great things and bad things about it (I tried out the one I could get and I really enjoyed it)

the amp sounds surprisingly good for the price point (if a little generic), the digital effects didn't impress me too much... they aren't particularly reliable from what I understand which is partially why the resale is so low compared to the MSRP

Sorry for the late reply. I just had a moment to test it out.

So, I put the amp on hot mode fairly loud, placed the tuner on output so it mutes, and the Deucetone in the middle. Both channels alone add a bit of treble and slight noise, but the worst offender is the clicking of the footswitch that's God awful loud. engaging both channels creates a massive amount of noise.

The OCD makes a surprisingly pleasant feedback. Kinda like the ocean from a distance. Odd. Anyways, combing the OCD with either channel on the Rat create a lot more noise.

Guitar alone. Nearly no noise with humbuckers on all positions, a slight hum added with coil tapping.

Guitar with Rat. My guitar seems to create an extra amount of disgusting hum, and coil tapping creates a very high whistle.

Part of it might be bad cables, though. I was planning on buying new ones later, but I think I'll have to do that sooner ( especially since I just got paid!!). EquipBoard did an article on cables and I thought the Planet Waves American Stage Cables seemed good enough. You have any recommendations?

test those cables before making any decisions, noise suppression and gating is a tone suck, only the ISP decimator gets close to transparent

and ask yourself what can be heard amidst the band.... some noise will just happen, it sounds glaring and overwhelming alone but in a band context? people obsess, it rarely cuts the mix... I record with sensitive and expensive microphones and allow gobs of noise and bleed none of you can hear in the mixed tracks and no attempt was made to reduce the noise... I own synths that hiss like a mopho and no one says my electronic music is noisy... when I am tracking I am worried, later I laugh about it, it just gets absorbed.... have a great sound, a UNIQUELY PERSONAL sound, not a dead quiet one if it get between you and creating your best music

speaking of noise, bleed, his and hum? go listen to my new tune and tell me anything jumps out at you!

there was so much non-musical noise during tracking and I gated none of it out, I just let it all ring and counted on a good mix to negate its impact and the song isn't overtly laden with analog noise as one woulda expected while it was being recorded... and listen to it because its pretty

I just picked me up a smoking hot deal. I got an ESP Ltd Eclipse Elite 1 with a case for $600.

So far, it plays great. The string tension is a little floppy for me, and thus made it super difficult to play fast stuff, but all in all, I dig it. It looks pretty in a translucent grey gloss thing. The guitar feels so tiny in my hands after not picking up a guitar in so long. This guitar has some cool features, some of which I am not used to yet. I REALLY dig the battery box in the back. You push it in and a spring rotates the box 180 degrees. So efficient. Gotoh locking tuners. This is my first time dealing with locking tuners. Supposedly, they make it easier to hold tuning longer? I don't see how, but we'll find out over time. The case is really nice as well. The easiest and best feeling switches ever.

The super bendy, low tension strings must be changed. My pick and fingers would push the strings like a half inch before it would let go. I like a high enough tension that the pick practically scratches across the string and the string doesn't move.

I still haven't even un-boxed my visual volume pedal. I opened the box, looked at the prettiness and scratch-less complexion within, then closed it and set it aside.

closed it and set it aside.

How do you sleep at night!?

nnf

I had to google what NNF meant. A google image search found this.

Try Urban Dictionary.

That is one hilarious, unsettling and disturbing google search. Combining the Urban Dictionary meaning with the Prochoice.com.au website for NNF synthetic Nitrile gloves for enhanced grip in both wet and dry conditions AND the Jimmy Pardo podcast Never Not Funny....

I cannot write this shit!

ah, their les paul copy.... cool finish on the top! I am always eyeballing the one with the sparkle (or is it silver flake, whatever) top but then I'm like, eh, its a lot of money for a Korean guitar.... I never see the sparkle ones as cheap as you got yours

good score, 600 clams sounds like a deal in this economy
