Guitar Center gone by the end of 2018. S&P Downgrade further

That's my bet. Dunno where they'd find another lifeline.

S & P has downgraded GC to CCC- as of November 29-ish

Basically junk.

1.6 Billion in debt & sinking

Don't know how they can expect to pull thru the sales slump of summer 2018

oh yeah, Moody's has them at a B3

also = junk

No idea on the future of the company. I'm sure they'll restructure and still exist, but either way it's a bummer. As a teenager, I definitely spent many hours trying out gear and dreaming in my local GC, so I'll always have a soft spot for them. But then again, when I see them dropping the type of cash they did on the times square store with their current debt levels, I really question their judgement.

GEAR:
  • EarthQuaker Devices Westwood
  • Fender '57 Custom Champ
  • Fender American Original '50s Telecaster

they're just an enormouse collection of debt to Fender... they would be gone now if Fender wasn't being forced to give them more prouct on credit because if GC goes udner it will likely take fender down with them

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Isn't Gibson into them for a ton too?

not as much... I don't think it'll tank Gibson whereas fenderhas been sof ar intot ehm that they HAVE to keep giving them new merchandise onc redit in order to keep them afloat in the hopes that GC will start to boucne back, get bought out again and then pay up

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

I got 10 bucks says GC as we know it is goin' under by 2019

I cna't take that bet, I need all my bucks really badly until after christmas.

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

well lets all face facts some of the GC's put employees in areas that they are not suited for and then that in turn makes people not want to go back to their local GC because they migt have had a bad expirence because the customer felt they didnt get proper help, the one i go to they had a drummer working behind the effects pedal counter so i the NON-GC employee had to help a customer out because the guy was a complete dipshit, harsh words but like i said we have to face facts, they're like gibson now and they're making poor choices and decisions.

The thoughts on the debt to Fender, and Fender probably being in Debt as a result will probably lead to Fender being the next ones to have problems, and that bothers me because I like Fender.

Oh well, it's not like I need more gear anyway, I'm currently purging a good bit of my collection off, and I tend to stay out of music stores. If I really get G.A.S. bad and want a piece of gear bad enough I can just break out the tools and build it myself.....as more than half my collection already shows.

GEAR:
  • Fender '62 Jaguar Reissue Electric Guitar
  • Hondo Paul Dean II
  • Fender Jaguar
