guitar storage/display

Most people on here have more than one guitar/bass. When you are not playing them do you have them in stands, on multi guitar racks or hanging from the walls or just keep them in cases? Is there a preferred method amongst all of the collective experience on this site?

all of the above... at home I have stands and wall hangers for about 9 or 10 guitars inv arious rooms -- the other 10 or 11 are in their cases. usually the most valuable ones get hung on the walls or put in cases just to protect my investment... other guitars that i maybe even like more tend to sit ons tands or lean on things, get ossed on chaires, whatever

I also have a travely multi-guitar thingy for playing shows or sessions where I need a lot ofmy guitars.... It hink it opens up ro contain 5 ot 6? and it breaks down to the size ofa fender case. I haven't used it in along time but I have it. I think I bought it when I was in this shitty barband in Washington DC before Lucian was born.

I have a single broken guitar stand, so Westley the Ibanez enjoys the luxurious seat on my couch while Alex the Squier sits on the old rickety stand held together by some heroic duct tape

you said "heroic duck tape" -- that 'dcut tape thing is actually not true, its duck tape, invented during world war 2 for the army by 3M as a waterproof do-anything tape. Hence Duck Tape as a brand name. You can really use anything for ducts but if you wanna waterproof an ammo box inside and out while island hopping, expelling the japanese army from the Pacific? waterproof tape is a great option.... and you can tape ducts with it I guess

I know, Tim Allen lied to use in the 90s when he said it was Duct tape on his sitcom

i've been duped. my life is a lie.

and asupposedly every winter he plumps up to be totally obese, grows a beard and then impersonates santa clause on christmas? I'm pretty sure that's his other secret besides Duck tape and the drug dealing

I was similarly traumatised when I noticed, after just 40 years, that Barbera Streisand has no L in her surname - not that I was ever a fan or anything...

Uh? oh yeah... sorry.

I have a couple of wall hangers that look really cheap and nasty, I wish I'd spent more on getting the smart spring loaded clasping types. I expect I'll upgrade them when I get my bass. My acoustic lives propped against the wall next to my sofa. Those guitar floor stands always get in the way; floor/storage space is a real issue with London living so I'd rather cover wall space than floor space.

Likewise I found a folding tabletop music stand more compact and practical than those telescopic/fold-up floor stands; I truly hate those things.

I keep only a couple in cases. I keep most on a goliath mount thing/rack.

Thanks all.

I have two guitars on stands in the Family room... Lounge room... one on each side of the TV, then I have 2 more stands in the studio reserved for gigs, and a 7 rack multi I bought a while back for when I record, but it needs to be modified to not lean back so much... it leaves guitars in the middle of the room with their angles. I keep two in cases packed with silica gel and the rest are sitting in a cupboard for now. The plan is wall hangers and custom built frames, but unsure if any hanger will do, or if I need to get the locking types. Anyone had any bad experiences with the hangers you can buy on ebay?
