Jazz amp

best cheap amp I've ever heard... pretty versatile too for onyl having 3 controls... and I own some nice as amps so I'm not praising it with only a line 6 spider to compare it to. When I bought it I thought it wouldn't be that good in person and that it would be 150 bucks wasted on a long shot... but it turned out to be sweet. I'm not selling my voxes, but its pretty cool and its great for traveling on the subway and stuff.

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Hey Jim/ anyone else that knows a thing or two about jazz, what are your thoughts on this as an amp? Its well outside my price range, but it looks so cool it may be worth the extra save? What are your thoughts? https://suprousa.com/amplifiers/1622rt-tremo-verb/

And question two, I know solid state watts = tube watts, but around how many watts of each do you think is loud enough for big band? Obviously my 5 watt is too quiet, but would 15, 20, 25 be enough? Thanks a lot (happy new year as well guys)

These Fender Champs look quite good. Is 40 watts of solidstate enough?

Also the big band is 5 saxs, 3 trombones, 3 trumpets, keyboard, bass, drums and two guitarists (me and another guy)

I've not played many reissue supros but i owned a model 24 and ahve played many... even the big oens like the thudnerbolt and statesman have jack shit for ehadroom... they are one trick ponies that have a istinctive blues/rock sound... think Zep 1 or Link Wray's Rumble

Ah interesting thanks, also final question (touch wood) I was looking at the Fender Champ 40, is 40 watts of solid state enough to cut through? And how many watts of tube would you relasitilly need? 15, 20? Thanks alot

I have no idea about the champ, but I would say 40 solid state watts will be okay... I mean, you can return whatever it is if ts not loud enough at rehearsal... usually you get a week or 2 no questions asked these days.

great thanks for your help!

If you don´t need to move your amp a lot I would recommend a Twin Reverb. If you want to save some money go for a red know Twin (The Twin). Great clean tone and useable overdrive channel as well. They are still sleepers but used by a people like Robben Ford. Wattage is scalable between 100 W, 60 W, 25 W and 15 W.

If you don´t want to carry a lot go for a Polytone Baby Brute (100 W), small and easy to carry - but still powerfull. Classic Jazz tone - Joe Pass was in the development loop of this amp.

yeah i love them too, unfortunatly their really out of my price range, and basically nobody over here sells second hand or at least at a fasir price. ill check out the polytones tho
