What Guitar is Good for Intermediate Players?

I'm looking to upgrade from my Strat. Thank you!

step 1, go to a store

step 2, play a bunch of strats in your price range

step 3, repeat at another store

step 4, purchase your favorite

????

or are you looking for a totally different guitar? try a middle of the line yamaha revstar for a gibson feel... sort of a more elegant les paul special with some snazzy electronic features, fantastic build quality at about the 5 to 6 hundred US dollar price point

if you don't like the revstar then go back to fender... if you're tired of a strat try a Telecaster

I say this to people a lot, including students when I still taught guitar.... maybe stick with your beginner guitar if its an okay guitar, make sure its setup as wella s possible, then go buy a legit amp.... a student guitar through a good amp will be a giant tonal upgrade compared to a more expensive guitar through your beginner bedroom amplifier. It'll probably imprve your playing being able to 'play into' a good amp.

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

What kind a music do you enjoy playing. If you want a harder sound you might want a guitar with humbuckers. Now there is some effects that will make your Strat sound heavier. If you find the right effect try downtuning to drop D or lower. If you need some advice ask away kiddo.

the prs se santana sig is good as an intermediate guitar, indonesian iirc but prs build quality doesnt slack. sounds damn fine too, like a full fat prs

heel of death... they made that giant heel to aleviate dead note issues in the small heel in the mid 90s, but there musta been another way to fix that because it amkes the upper frets uncomfortable to use and an itnermediate player should be working on using the whole fingerboard
