Amazing sequencer, but sound engine isn't for me
First of all, this is a great machine. Novation are mastering the art of sequencers, and this model isn't an exception. Flexible and with a world of possibilities, this synth is a good piece of gear.
Build quality isn't so great, it's a plastic box. Pads sensitivity is okay, better than, let's say, an Elektron Model:Cycle. Generally, it's consistent with its this price range (quite affordable)
The negativity of my review is based out of my personal appreciation of the sounds it has to deliver, which aren't what I needed. If you're into techno and EDM-ish stuff, this might do the trick. But for more indie oriented projects, it's a pass. Sounds were kind of harsh, aggressive, and the filters wouldn't allow me to reach a mellow, round and warm tone like I've been looking out of a mono synth. Also, playing through the matrix isn't that intuitive, and I got tired of the lack of button per function.
I would have keep it only for the sequencer, one of the bests around the market (but not as complex as, let's say, Elektron family), to control another mono synth like a MS20. But at this point, I preferred to simply let it go.
