In your opinion, what makes real vintage guitars sound better than nowadays guitar?

From these answers i understand that vintage instruments are so expensive only for "collectable" reason, not for much quality compared to modern instruments. You can find good and bad vintage guitars, as you can fing good or bad modern guitars. By the way, what makes vintage guitars more expensive is only for a collectable year construction. Thanks

Distortion pedal

It is so nasal and sharp, Blake. I think that the best boss distortion pedals are the blues driver, the overdrive/distortion 3, and the distortion 1.

However I think that besides the Rat, a clone pedal of the Koln Centaur would be a great choice too.

In your opinion, what makes real vintage guitars sound better than nowadays guitar?

Yeah, I realize that in questions like this there's a lot of talking about. I've already read about pre and post cbs periods, and that in the 80s fender opened a branch in japane, in the same period manufacturing Corona plant closed, and they were forced to import guitars from japan. Anyway thanks for your helpful answer. At last, what book would you advise me?

In your opinion, what makes real vintage guitars sound better than nowadays guitar?

Hey guys.

Folks, generally, is inclined to spend thousand of bucks in vintage guitars, because they seems sound better. Why, for example, an original '54 strat sounds better than a reissue of 54, in your opinion? Material construction? Pheraps the effect of the years in the alnico pickups?

And, why in your opinion an 80s japanese fender, which they are quoted more or less as same quality as american, costs less than an American of the same dacade? For example, an elite stratocaster costs 2000 bucks nowadays, a contemporary strat 500 bucks more or less. In the 80s american fender prices were of 700/800 bucks, i haven't lived in 80s but i think that a Elite strat in 83 cost 700 bucks, and a contemporary made in 85/87 in fujigen gakki too, and i think that either have something of "rare". Why american seems to increase their value in time and japanese don't? We only pay the provenience of American only because we are 100% sure of their quality?

P.s I do not want to put in discussion the quality of vintage instruments, they are great instruments indeed. Just want to undestand the value of the instruments

I need a tip for buying a new guitar

At least he use a combo, a few dollars less, ahahah. Pretty sure Adam is using these stuff at the moment:

Anyway I apprecciated you're advice, Jimmarchi1. I think that personality is one of the most important things, and you right when you say that the sound doesn't depend "drastically" of what kind of bridge that the guitar has

I need a tip for buying a new guitar

Yeah, you right, I check their equipment for a long time. I'm pretty sure he used a couple of Holy Grail (for short reverb and long reverb) until the release of their last album. After that, they changed a lot of stuff and I don't know if he's currently using them. However thay use a lot of chorus and compression as well. For chorus I'm pretty sure he use his Roland Jazz Chorus

I need a tip for buying a new guitar

the new mustangs are good just not the same as a traditional mustang

Indeed. About effects I'm oriented to a Line 6 DL4 for delays, Tube Screamer or Procorat for drive, and I think i'll shop an EH Holy Grail or EH Cathedral for reverb. But I'm in no hurry at the moment, I process guitar's signal truogh Ableton Live

I need a tip for buying a new guitar

Well guys, drawing conclusions I chose to shop the Standard Strat, beacause I'm definitely sure that with a "traditional" guitar I can play it safe. The Offset's Mustang is a "risk", perhaps it sounds really good too, but if it doesn't have the timbre of the vintage Mustangs than that guitar isn't properly for me. Thank you all!

I need a tip for buying a new guitar

I suggest you get 1 or 2 of everything you're into, one very traditional, one more hot-rod of possible. That's what I always do. Which is probably why I have a whole huge clsoet that's mostly filled with guitar cases....

Well, yes, with the passing of time I will be able to find a original Mustang from the 60s (hope so), and so i'll got a "hot-rod" Mustang, and a "classical" Mustang. That's true

I need a tip for buying a new guitar

Try a telecaster or jaguar or jazzmaster while you are at it. Fender also

Sure thing. I tried a Telecaster a few of months ago, and it doesn't really like me. Great guitar absolutely, but to me it sounded to much thin and sharp. I love instead the "indie" tone of Jaguar and Jazzmaster (just heard unfortunately by youtube's rewiew and music covers) but I personally still prefere Mustang and Strat tones

I need a tip for buying a new guitar

Really thanks for all these informations! In fact I'm aiming to a Strat or Mustang because I've noticed that all the artist I've just mentioned uses Fender's guitar for clean and rhythm tones. Among all Fender's guitar, Strat and Mustang actually have my favourite tones. I'm not a lover of Gibson and humbucker's tone indeed, i prefere single coils. My doubts was inherent to the changes of Offset Series, and the fear to buy a guitar that in short time I couldn't feel properly to me, or that it doesn't fully satisfy me. Anyway, you gave me heplful informations

I need a tip for buying a new guitar

Hi! I want to buy a new guitar. I love indie rock, indie pop, funk, and ambient music. My favourite bands and artists are The 1975, The Neighbourhood, The Japanese house, Troye Sivan, Flume, Foals, Catfish and the bottlemen, Bad Suns and others with similar music style. I'm really indecided between a Fender Standard Strat (made in mexico), or a Fender Mustang. However i'm Italian, and it's very difficult here to find an original Fender Mustang of the 60' or 70'. So, i'm forced to buy a Fender Mustang of the new Offset series of 2016 (the mustang with olive green color). My question is: how it sounds? I can't really realize a Mustang without out-phase pickups, with the bridge of a strat, and with maple neck. Does it sounds quite to a 65' Mustang or it's better bet on an Fender Stratocaster?

Thank's in advance, and sorry for bad english
