This pedal has a 4-detent knob that selects four different circuit configurations, representing the original Sparkle Drive sound that is a clone of an Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-808, and the three most popular user modifications to the TS-808, as follows: (1) higher gain lead tone, (2) mid scooped rhythm tone, (3) high gain overdrive/distortion.
I found all these settings to be very usable, especially the original tone, and the number one mod. Also useful is the "clean" knob, which allows you to mix into the sound your clean tone, so you can go from "White Wedding" tone to SRV with the twist of a knob.
This pedal is such a good preamp, I keep most all my amp knobs at 12 o'clock, and control my sound with my Giggity.
It's an optical wah pedal, so there are no moving parts to break or get worn out. Features a wah lock, with a frequency select pot, so you can easily get that "Money for Nothing" sound. Also features a "WOW" button for more distortion-friendly wah, and a gain knob for a boost.
