Gear 9

If you're looking at a Danelectro and wanting a solid well built quality piece of craftsmanship you're a fool. But if you want a gnarly noise machine that youre not scared to abuse, then this piece of compressed cardboard is the steed for you! Tonally its actually surprising, considering what the thing is comprised of. I manage to coax some 'after-show compliment' tones form it. It's like a clumbsy sounding tele with a bit more character. It does have it's issues however. A year into service and most of the tuning pegs have bent out of shape, and it doesnt hold tuning too great. The stacked tone pots have a tendency to pop off and go missing, and the strings can be a bit of a fiddle to change. I know this sounds like a terrible instrument, but you have to love it despite its flaws.
Goes from low-gain compression to tasty (almost fuzzy) crunch, quite a dark sounding overdrive, adds weight to my Dano and has plenty of headroom if required. When I first got this I used it as an always on 'cleanish' tone, but these days i'm favouring it more as a straightforward drive.
