The 2003 GPC Guitars Matt Skiba Signature model guitar is one of the most sought after Giorgini Precision Craft (GPC) designs and limited to only 100 guitars, this Skiba model is a no nonsense tribute to one of the most prominent movers and shakers in modern punk. Loosely based on Skiba's love for Jaguars, this model features one Dimarzio PAF Classic humbucker in the bridge position that's perfectly suited to the thick, cutting distortion of Alkaline Trio and Blink 182 tracks.
The hard maple neck has a full 25 1/2" scale, with a slender C shaped profile and rosewood fretboard with shark tooth pearloid inlays. The stock frets are just shy of a medium jumbo width, with plenty of height and well rounded crowns. Currently the frets show no notable wear, and the guitar plays cleanly up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. The graphite nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and in conjunction with the locking Sperzel tuners, this guitar has excellent tuning stability.
The alder body has a gloss black finish with a bright red Jazzmaster-shaped pickguard outfitted with a single Volume knob. A second mini-switch was added to the control layout in the past, and that hole (adjacent to the input jack) has been cleanly plugged and finished to match the pickguard. Other features include a string through body design and black Graph Tech bridge with individual saddles.
Due to the limited production run of only 100 instruments, these Skiba guitars rarely come up for sale, and with GPC no longer making guitars, there will never be a reissue!
