I tested it through a Laney Cub12R tube amp and a restored guitar with EMG 81–85 pickups, and it handled everything from subtle breakup to almost distortion-level drive with great clarity and warmth. It works especially well for punk and alternative tones, easily hitting that aggressive edge while keeping definition. The three simple knobs — Volume, Tone, and Gain — give you a wide tonal range. The Gain control in particular offers great versatility, from clean boost to thick overdrive. The metal housing and ambient LED lighting feel solid and professional, making it a reliable choice for stage or studio use.

The JOYO UZI distortion pedal is a fantastic addition to any heavy metal rig, and I've had a blast testing it out in my home studio. Its high-gain output delivers an aggressive sound that perfectly captures the essence of classic metal tones, whether you're going for that American crunch or a British growl thanks to the versatile "BIAS" knob. I especially appreciated the dynamic balance of the "GAIN" and "VOLUME" knobs; you can push the gain without losing volume, which keeps your sound consistent. The futuristic aesthetics with ambient lights add a cool visual touch for live performances. My only caveat is that it’s crucial to ensure a solid connection with your guitar and recommend using a JOYO power adapter for optimal performance to avoid any hiccups. Overall, it’s a solid pedal that stands out in both tone and build quality!
