Great cab for bass

I've been using one of these for bass in the past 5-6 years, the only thing I did to it was rewiring it to 8 ohms to make it aeasier to use with other heads. It's robust as hell - heavy too of course - and sounds great.

Great sounding but hella weighty

I bought this combo at a local used instruments shop in Budapest in a hurry some days before one of my band's shows, so that I wouldn't have to haul my HUGE 4x12 cab and also huge amp around. Well, it is smaller than those, by quite a lot, but boy, is this combo still heavy. Sounds heavy too, I can't help but love this thing. Has great low end thanks to that 15" speaker, love the separate gain controll (or rather really hate how it's becoming less of a thing on contemporary bass amps), the eq is pretty sweet too, each controll has a nice range, and you don't have to max it out to make the amp sound like something. Despite being labeled 45 watts, it's very loud, managed to gig and rehearse with it without issues with volume, and we're a pretty loud noise rock trio, so yeah. Nice little amp. Also built like a tank, and easy to maintain. Since it's from the mid to late '70s I recapped mine, which was surprisingly easy in every aspect. If you don't mind the weight or are not planning to move this thing a lot, It's great fun I highly recommend it.

A great lil shortscale bass

Used it for some years as my main bass, it plays and sounds great. My biggest complaint is that the old factory output jack is not the most reliable after 30 years, but me being me I really want to keep this bass as original as possible. If you're in the market for one be prepared to have the binding replaced, it reacts with the paint over the decades and shrivles up, and falls off, so far my one is the only one I think I've seen with intact original binding. Other than this, if you manage to find a nicely preserved one, it's a great bass.

Felt a little stupid spengind this much money, after all, how much better can it be than my mexican P? Well, the neck was like a revelation to me. This combination of being wide and thin feels better than anything I played so far. That alone I feel like was absolutely worth it for me. I'm a huge fan of the vintage vibe, that was the biggest reason for me to want this specific model, having those early sixties type appointments just feels right to me, even though quite some of them are absolutely unimportant in the grander scheme of things. Two things bug me though, one is that, for some reason in the early-mid 2000s Fender decided to make the pickups magnets stick out from the housing and beweled their edges, which is again, pretty unimportant, but not period accurate. Luckily it's fairly easily resolved with a 2mm shim under the pickup housing. The other is that the pick up cover's profile on these was not the right shape, it's very round, the originals were way more angular. Other than that, I can say that the fit in general is great, the finish is nice and feels nice too, the reverse tuners are very easy to get used to, the bass stays in tune great, and it sounds great, sits very nice in our mix, even though we're a very noisy, distorted band with a pretty busy soundscape I'd say. Definitely try one before buying though, I'm pretty sure that wide thin neck will be a dealbreaker for some people, for me, even though I've mostly played shortscale basses for the past years, it feels like home.

Just what I wanted

I bought this thing mostly because of the song mode, and it's making it a lot easier for me to develop my ideas. I previously had an MC707 that I ended up selling, because I often felt it's layout is getting in my way. Not with the MV though. I find this machine quite easy to work with, and fun too. The presets it comes with are pretty much the same that came with the 707, and they sound great. About the single thing that annoys me is that you can't live tweak parameters, like cutoff, while your creations play in song mode. Granted, you can automate things by recording knob movement or with the motion designer, but I like to tweak my filters real time. Oh and the build quality is pretty good too, encoders and buttons feel great, way nicer than they did on the 707.
