The model I have is a Pro series from 1990, MIJ with a Shaller Trem. All black with neck binding.
Amazing guitar, Black, Black hardware. Made in Japan in 1990 officially but was partly made in north america. Stock jackson active pickups I replaced with Seymour Duncans. TB4 in the bridge, 59N in the neck position. Alder body (I think), Ebony board. Neck through body. Playing amazingly. The first real guitar I owned, bought new at the age of 16.
Is actually SSH. Great guitar, plays a lot better than lots of US, MIM & MIJ's that I have played.
For a Chinese made guitar, you wouldn't know it to play. The stock alnico pickups sound great too, although I am not so crazy about the hum bucker or the black coloured pick guard so they are going to be swapped out soon.
I have 2 of these. With transtrems. Incredible guitars if you can find one now that's reasonably priced!
The one pictured is not a true M series. The true M series have transtrems. The 2 I have: an '87 GM1T with an added front EMG SA and Roland GK3 internal. EMG 89 in the bridge. Also my main Steinberger: an '88 GM4T with EMG SA's and an EMG 89 in the bridge position.
