There's a lot more to Tim Gane than being just the guitarist in Stereolab; he's always been the main songwriter, and Stereolab is more of a collective than a band, with no one person in the group having a strictly defined role. The line-up of the band has changed throughout its history, and Stereolab's output is tremendously diverse, veering from lounge to jazz to rock to indie to krautrock to avant garde to pop to psychedelia.
