Quality Modeling, Affordable, Just Right
This is a great entry-level multi effects pedal for a few reasons. The mods actually sound like what they are replicating unlike many of its predecessors. With 5 spots available in a chain it allows players the opportunity to experiment with different options that would oftentimes be neglected when being forced to buy individual pedals. On average $100-$200/pedal adds up real quick.
Cons: Can be difficult to dial in a proper EQ setup when playing with a 7-string. A basic knowledge & understanding of pedal boards/chains is necessary when creating one's own patches.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
I would recommend users to install the Guitar Lab. This not only gives users more options for effect types but it also allows the option for beginners to find patches that emulate their biggest influences. Via the Guitar Lab is much easier than trying to search across the internet or the old trial and error method as you play with the effects and mods.
Amazing Playability, Affordable
This is hands down my favorite 6-string I've ever owned!! The Edge III bridge took some time to get used to as does any floating bridge. But it is the best alternative to a Floyd Rose in my opinion. This was the guitar that sold me on Ibanez guitars.
I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking to get the craftmanship and playability of an artist's signature guitar without spending thousands on a guitar.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
I did eventually end up swapping out the pickups. Putting a Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan '59 bridge in the neck position. This combination delivered a full, tight low-end response, scooped mids, and a perfect amount of saturation. Which is perfect for my style of playing.
Tuning: 425 Hz - C - G - C - F - A - D
Solid, Versatile 7 string for beginners
This is a phenomenal introduction to the joys playing a 7 string can bring a player. It's a versatile guitar with amazing action. I mostly play styles like Mark Morton (Lamb of God); Jack Simmons (Slaughter to Prevail); Dimebag Darrell (Pantera); Al Glassman (fmr. Despised Icon/Job For A Cowboy); Mark Heylun/Chris Garza (Suicide SIlence); etc. And this guitar has never let me down.
My complaints with this guitar are the limited controls, it came with a 3 way toggle switch and a sole volume knob. Granted the guitar offers a push/pull coil split option but I feel possibilities are limited by not being able to adjust the tone and with the stock pickups.
All in all, I would recommend this guitar to anyone interested in stepping into the realm of 7 strings.
