Amazing, especially at this price point

This thing feels like a tank, even though it's very light as far as keyboards go. It's got a nice metallic build, great feeling semi-weighted keys that surpass cheap real pianos, and 3 pretty cool mod joysticks. It's nice and simple, and doesn't have tons of pointless buttons, faders, pads, etc... The value for cost is incredible, especially considering it's 100% "Made in Italy".

I only have two problems with it: The firmware appears to be slightly buggy: I've sometimes needed to restart the device as it was freezing my DAW (which unfreezes as soon as it's switched off), and the OOB sustain pedal feels quite cheap (even if it still feels solid) compared to the rest of the keyboard. The first problem could get fixed in the future by a firmware update, and as far as the pedal goes, it's still perfectly usable: just less nice to use than the keyboard is. If you are a pianist, you may want to invest into a real piano-like sustain pedal.

Hi, you're totally right, I agree. Just one precision for the keyboard, it's a fully weighted unbalanced keyboard. The Grand model has wood keys and has balanced keys. They use Fatar keyboards TP100 L/R (studio) and TP40 Wood (grand). I took the Studio for it's unbalanced keyboard for all styles of playing more than classical use... But I also have a problem: the SL88 freezes after a while. The keyboard, the screen, knobs and sticks are all freezed too so I shut it off and on again... It will go back to the shop for a repair or replacment. However, this keyboard is wonderful, for me harder than Yamaha Motif XS I had and Roland FP-7f I still have... It's a question of taste but I was really surprised by this very good quality.
Tips & tricks: The Yamaha pedals don't have the good polarity, I made a soldering but it don't work sometimes! Strange! The Roland pedal works perfectly and it has half-damper capability (0-127) but I think I will buy the SLP-3D from studiologic, unbeatable price for a triple pedal with half-damper too and only 1 connection cable in the universal port, so you still have place for 2 on/off pedals and 1 continuous (to confirm)... Ooh, the four zones capabilities and the way to modify parameters is really thought well and the screen is pleasant. I stop here! Sorry for my english...
