I've had both, definitely the spectraflex. This best guitar cable list actually prompted me to try out the spectraflex. Pretty pleased after several months of use, only gripe is they can be a little stiff.

Perhaps the pole is lower than the rest. I don't think it would be an electrical issue if all the others work.

my first thought

I'd say it is going to vary for everyone but a friend of mine probably practiced about 6-8 a day and I noticed a tremendous difference after a few years.

Now five years in, I am in aw out how far he has come.
