Rock solid guitar, my #1 since 1991. They literally don't make them like this anymore.

At some point in the late '90s the Pacifica line started being mass produced in the same Indonesian sweatshops where most of the world's entry-level guitars come from. The Pacifica 012 is an example of these cheap, mediocre beginner guitars that are all over eBay.

However, in the very early '90s, they produced the Pacifica 321, 521, 721, a few others, and the Weddington line (Les Paul style) guitars. These were extremely solid, technologically advanced, eminently playable, and reasonably affordable super-strats that continue to shine above the competition. You can tell the difference by the neck joint -- these have a deep recessed cutaway instead of the traditional Strat-style neck block. They had an unusual technique for insetting the neck into the body that resulted in amazing sustain and tone.

Mine is a black 521 with a 2:1:2 pickup configuration, the pickups swapped out for Fender Lace Sensors. Unlike many of these guitars produced, mine has the traditional Strat-style tremolo, not a Floyd Rose. It has served me well in all kinds of music situations, from rock and blues to jazz and reggae, it's extremely versatile. I traded a more-expensive Ibanez Sabre guitar for it and never looked back. It's so great! If you can find one of these on eBay for a couple hundred bucks, just get it. You won't be sorry.

Though it may look like you're standing outside the Matrix, it contains so many useful and flexible tools for sampling and synthesizing. Its rock-bottom price and amazing sound profile means you should definitely check it out.
